The Discover Dogs stand

Keeshond
First I would like to thank the Crufts committee for inviting me to judge our lovely breed and all the exhibitors for such a good entry and interesting to see how many had travelled from abroad. Personally I also extend a big thank you to my stewards who were such a great help in seeing that I completed my task of judging in the time allowed.
I have several general comments regarding the breed. Colour seemed better than it has been but that maybe the lighting at the NEC, I found that the back movement was not good and there were many round eyes, which detracted from the characteristic Keeshond expression. I also found it interesting that there were so many double curled tails. All were well presented.

V D:- (6) 1. Luckhurst’s Ch. Gavimir Kestrel. 7 year old looking well on the day, good compact body of pleasing colour nice reach of neck and well set tail, pleasing head with neat ears and correct eye markings. Moved well. 2. Austin’s Chotakees What a Dream, a lively 7 year old who needed time to settle, again of pleasing shape and good colour but not quite the reach of neck as 1, nice bone, typical head and expression, moved well. 3. Thomas’ Torrikees the Clansman of Sareveta 10 year old starting to show his age but still keen to show, nice overall shape with good reach of neck, good bone, Movement good for age.
P D.( 5 ) 1. Atkinson’s Torrikees Who’s the Boss of Winklestar. Nice sized dog, short in back with well plumed tail. Pleasing head with nice set ears and good eye. In good coat of clear colour. Moved well.BP. 2. M.Hill’s Zandvoort Dream Works. Compact dog with good tail set but would prefer more reach of neck, darker in colour than 1, nice head with neat ears and dark eye, Moved OK. 3. Brunt’s Zandvoort Dream Machine. Litter brother to 2, and could have changed places if he had settled down. Compact shape, pleasing head with good eye, neat ears, when shown correctly, lost out on movement today.
J D ( 3). 1. Matthews’ Valindale Genusfour Byquy.Good sound compact body, good bone, correct coat with good dark markings, well set tail, pleasing head with dark eye but reluctant to show ears today (as were all this class!), moved well. 2.Wilkes’ Pommary Ashu Lodale for Dakaraikees. Larger, well-boned dog, high set tail another nice head with good eye and face markings, didn’t move as well as 1. 3. Woods’ Neradmik French by Design at Weglaufen. Smaller cast dog but of good shape, would like more bone, head not as masculine as I would like, in good coat, well plumed tail but not as tightly curled as some. Moved OK.
P G D. 8. Difficult class to judge. 1. Cusick’s Leazehond Raffles Dream. Compact dog, well boned and firm body with nice reach of neck, masculine head with dark eye and well placed ears, in good coat of definite colour, tail well set, moved OK. 2. Barton’s Rossvale Spirit of the Night at Collcrist. Short cobby dog of good colour, well feathered tail but a little stuffy in neck, pleasing wedge head with neat ears and correct eye. Moved OK. 3. Hill’s Plymkees First Edition. Good sized dog with short back but stuffy in neck, well placed tail, head good wedge but rather dark making spectacles less defined and eye not as good as 1&2, in enough coat but rather dark for me, moved better behind than in front.
L D. 7 (1) 1. Day’s Allforus Dice Master for Spitzcav. Lovely outline and right size, short coupled with correct shoulder, nice reach of neck, pleasing head with good eye, well defined spectacles and neat ears. Coat of good texture and colour, moved well. 2. Blomfield’s Valindale What Ever. Lovely masculine dog of good size, good head with pleasing expression, well placed tail, in good coat of pleasing colour, lost to 1 in movement. 3. Pattison’s Eastkees Licence to Love Compact dog with pleasing head and neat ears set, not in as well coated as 1 & 2 but still good colour. Moved OK.
O D. 14 (1) Bennett & Savage’s Ch Thorsdale Trade Mark Superb compact body, short coupled, with a good reach of neck and tail carried well over his back, good masculine head with lovely expression, coat of right texture and colour, moved like a dream. CC & BOB. 2. Pattison’s Ch. Eastkees One More Chance Compact body and lovely head with nice eye and ear set giving typical keeshond expression, good neck and high tail set. Moved well. RCC. 3. Sharp-Bale’s Ch Neradmik D’Artagnan. Good body but slightly longer set than 1& 2, and shorter in neck, well plumed and set tail, good bone and in full coat, Pleasing head and expression, back movement let him down.
G C D S D. 3. 1. Craig’s Flatmeer Flonkerlicht Good quality dog, with good strong markings, showed better in this class and moved well. 2. Barton’s Rossvale Spirit of The Night at Collcrist. 3. Coe’s Ch Vandaban Van Dyke.

Veteran Bitch. 7 (2) 1. Truelove & Sharp-Bale’s Desanti Chinese Whispers Over Neradmik 8 year old. Showed well, lovely outline, feminine head and lovely coloured coat. Moved well. 2. Marfleet’s Colpatron Secret Dreams of Flatmeer. 12 years. Looked well for her age, lovely bone, expressive head and good strong coloured coat. Moved well. 3. White’s Neradmik Magic Moments. 8 year old. Slightly larger bitch carrying a heavy coat, head pleasing with good eye and ear set. Lost out on movement.
P B 3 (1) 1. Wilson’s Gallowtree Midnight Belle. Lovely feminine puppy, would like to see her when she matures. Compact shape, nice reach of neck, good tail set, pretty expressive head, in enough nicely coloured coat, moved well eventually. 2. Passmore’s Torrikees Miss Dior. Another good puppy, but a little longer cast and not so high a tail set although well plumed, head not so feminine as 1 with slightly larger ears, moved OK. Another I would like to see when she matures.
J B. 2. 1. Hill’s Pommary Talluhal Lo at Plymkees. Lovely outline but top size for a bitch, good reach of neck, not in full coat, which made the ears appear out of proportion for the head. Moved well. 2. Matthews’ Valindale Waltzing Matilda for Byquy. Difficult to assess as was unhappy in the ring. Pretty head and good reach of neck, short back, nice colour definition, unsettled on the move.
P.G.B 11 (1) 1. Newman’s Leazehond Maddy Moonlight. Nice cobby bitch with well-defined markings both on body and head, in good coat, moved better in front than back. 2. Sharp-Bale’s Neradmik Endless Love. Pretty short coupled bitch with feminine head, well set tail, rather short on coat today but what she had was of good colour, moved well. 3. Bardsley’s Baleissa Catwalk Queen. Short coupled bitch with pleasing head, good bone, in good coat but not so definite in colour, Moved OK.
L B. 8 (1) 1. Smith’s Eastkees Diamond Image. Compact bitch with good reach of neck, high tail set, good bone, pleasing head with typical head with nice expression, right ear set, good coat and markings, when settled down moved well. 2. Gregory’s Neradmik Scandalous at Natlou. Pretty bitch, with short back, lovely plume of tail but not so well set as 1 nor the same reach of neck, lovely coat of clear colour, moved well. 3. Stubbings’ Norkees Special Edition at Vandersee. More petite bitch and slightly longer cast than 1 & 2, pretty head and expression, in fine coat of nice colour, moved well.
O.B. 15 (4) 1. Saarilahti & Vatanen’s Fin/Swe/Rus/Hu. Ch. Ikurin Regina Nova. Stood out in this class. Gorgeous outline, sound body, in beautiful coat of good colour, lovely head with well set ears, if critical would have liked stronger colour in the head, but forgave her that for the rest, moved well.C.C. 2. Lindsay’s Ch Enreveyar Magic Star at Mezanda. Attractive bitch, nice shape, lovely coat of good clear colour, good reach of neck and well plumed high tail set, pretty typical keeshond head, moved well. R.C.C 3. Brewer’s Ch/Ir Ch Helkeesen Eventful. Nice outline in good coat of pleasing colour, pretty head with eye and ear set, lost out on movement.
G C D S B 5 1. Bardsley’s Baleissa Catwalk Queen 2. Saunder’s Liefkees Albertine Good size for a bitch with good bone, but not as compact as 1, very heavy coat, head not as feminine as would like, moved OK. 3. Cabell’s Vandaban Willow.
