17 Breed Notes – WELKS 2019

For a change WELKS was windy rather than wet on Utility day and our judge Stuart Mallard (who last judged us at the WKC in 2015) had to break during his judging to move his car due to flying debris. Keesies were second in the ring after 44 Cardigan Corgis with a ‘not before’ time of 10.30am, which meant a more leisurely start for exhibitors and we were in just after 11.00am. Stuart had drawn an entry of 40 dogs with 7 absentees.

Winning his third and crowning CC was Carol Bardsley’s Skathki Just Got Wicked (Ch Samkees With Love to Neradmik (imp Mlt) x Ch Neradmik Ruby Slipper for Skathki) from Yearling class. Teddy won his first CC at Midland Counties last year from Jean Davies (Kyross) and his second was at the Keeshond Club Ch show earlier this month from Steve Brown (Rossvale).

The RDCC went to Melanie Harris’ Ch Neradmik All About The Boy for Watchkees JW ShCM (Ch Am Ch Kemonts Skylines Game Boy (imp USA) x Ch Lady Godiva’s Guilty Pleasures with Neradmik (imp Fin)).

Winning her second CC & Best of Breed was Debbie Hopkins’ Int Ch Osiris Shining Bright Van Het Earlskamp among Serenaubach (Am Ch Trumpets It’s Good To Be King x Int Ch Torrikees Shakira among Serenaubach) handled as usual by Simon Oakley and keeping it in the family, her half-sister Serenaubach Annisgwyl (Quasars Brilliant Light Van Het Earlskamp x Int Ch Torrikees Shakira among Serenaubach) was Best Puppy.

The RBCC went to the winner of the Post Graduate class, Jane Saunders’ Liefkees Adina (Ch Wund-R Y Workin For A Livin at Szaryk (Imp USA) x Liefkees Angelika).

The same weekend up at the Scottish National Equestrian Centre, a double show was held; which by all accounts was a success for all concerned. At the Ladies Kennel Association of Scotland’s show the judge was Jane Usher (Murmansk) and winning Best AVNSC and Utility Group 3 was Tom & Caroline Gate’s Lacetrom Shuna ShCM and Utility Veteran Group 1 by Lacetrom Cruivie ShCM with both Kimi and Ziva being handled as usual by Michelle Wright. For Falkirk & DCS the judge was Brian Foster and Michelle and Kimi won Utility Veteran Group 2.

Short notice, but the funeral of Irene Howe is being held this Friday (3rd May) at Stranton Crematorium, Hartlepool TS25 5DD at 10.30am; no flowers but with all donations going to Macmillan Cancer Support.
