I thank the officers and the committee for the opportunity to judge our breed at Bath this year. It is a lovely show, set in glorious surroundings.
The weather for the previous three days of the show had been very wet, and I was advised to take wellingtons, as the ground was rather muddy. However, thankfully by Utility Day the ground had dried up, and the weather was for us at least dry, with only an odd small shower here and there. My efficient stewards on the day were Michelle Reed, and Daniel Brown a young man of fourteen years of age. I appreciated their help very much.
My main impressions on the day were that movement in many cases was not good, and that a number of both dogs and bitches were too small. That said I was very happy with all of my main winners. Thank you to all exhibitors for the lovely entry.
Minor Puppy Dog. 4 (0 abs) 1st Sharp-Bale’s Neradmik Take a Chance, nice size and good bone. Lovely young dog looking quite mature for his age and in type is unmistakably his father’s son. Very smart outline, with a very good reach of neck, high set tail, compact body and lovely bone and feet. Beautiful colour with very clear markings. Good wedge shaped head with good facial markings. Back movement need to tighten a little but this will come with age. Undoubtedly has a very bright future ahead of him. 2nd Bennett and Savage’s Thorsdale Trade Mark. Another of a nice size, also with excellent bone and with a very pleasing outline. Attractive head and expression. Has a lot going for him, just not as mature and together at this time as the class winner. 3rd Brunt’s Foxifayre Flame Dancer of Zandvoort.
Puppy Dog no entries
Junior Dog. 2 (0 abs) 1st Pattison’s Eastkees One More Chance. A very nice dog to go over, with a nice outline and a high set tail. Attractive head with well placed ears, dark eye and good spectacles. Moved very well, particularly in front. For me too heavily coated, although it was of a good colour. 2nd Lythgoe’s Stratus Domino. Nice overall shape with good colour and makings. Particularly pleasing head and expression, which was unfortunately marred by his reluctance cooperate with his handler and use his ears on the day. Moved well.
Post Graduate Dog 6 (2 abs) 1st Wadmore-Smith’s Rossvale Latin Lover. Presented an appealing well balanced outline of an upstanding dog of a nice size and type. Very good neck and shoulders, and a compact body. Nice head, although personally I would prefer just a touch more length of muzzle. Good dark eye and small well placed ears. Coat of a good colour and texture. Moved with purpose and won his class with ease. 2nd Dean’s Allforus Frosting Over Lekkerbek. Very nice dog that showed his heart out for his owner. All of the essentials are there. Has a lovely head, nice outline, good neck, well placed tail and lovely colour and markings. Would just like a little more of him. 3rd Lindsay’s Mezanda’s Star Performer.
Limit Dog 6 (3 abs) 1st Coe’s Vandaban Van Dyke. Well balanced dog of a nice size and type. Lovely head and expression, with very good eye shape and colour. Well set tail. Close fitting jacket of a strong colour and harsh texture Moved very well in all directions. 2nd Matthew’s Eastkees Top Notch At Valindale. Nice overall shape. Attractive head, with a nice dark eye and good facial markings. Good coat colour and markings, but for me carrying a little too much coat, which could have been harsher in texture. 3rd Buchanan’s Eastkees Golden Jubilee.
Open Dog 8 (2 abs) 1st Sharp-Bale’s Ch. Neradmik D’Artagnan. This clever breeder has a breeding program which seems to be able to continuously produce the goods. This is a dog of quality, who I have admired from the ringside, and going over him I was not disappointed. Correct size, lovely overall shape with an excellent neck and shoulders, compact well sprung body and a very high set tightly curled tail. Beautiful bone and very good feet. Good wedge shaped head, with dark eye, good facial markings and well placed ears. All of this topped off by a good close fitting coat with lovely colour and markings, positive movement, and great ring presence. Dog CC and BOB. 2nd Luckhurst’s Ch. Gavimir Kestrel. A lovely dog, so typical of the quality stock produced by this exhibitor. Different in type to first, but a worthy champion never the less. Has all of the essentials of a top winner, with a correct outline, lovely head and a close fitting coat of a harsh texture with clear colour and markings. On the day could just have put more a little more in to it in this class, although he did pull out all of the stops in the challenge. Reserve Dog CC. 3rd Hickson’s Kichigai Great Pretender.
Minor Puppy Bitch 6 (0 abs) The first and second in this class are both two lovely bitches who I am sure will change places many times. 1st Hickson’s Neradmik Scandalous At Natlou. Lovely puppy with a very smart outline. Good neck and shoulders, compact body and high set tail Good colour. Attractive head with lovely eye, good spectacles and well placed ears. Moved very well once she had settled. 2nd Austin’s Neradmik Hidden Agenda For Chotahkees. Another very nice puppy that pushed first very hard. Most of the above comments apply, but on the day I felt that the first was a little more compact in body, and moved a touch more positively. 3rd White’s Neradmik Bedazzled Morvania.
Puppy Bitch 3 (0 abs) 1st Lindsay’s Enreveyar Magic Star At Mezanda. Nice sized bitch, good colour and markings, harsh texture to coat, good tail set, Attractive head with nice dark eye, good neck and well placed shoulders, Maycock’s Enreveyar Willow. Litter sister to 1st and not dissimilar, although not quite as well balanced as she appeared to be a little high on the leg. Nice head and expression. 3rd Searle’s Leazehond Pacific Blue At Heemstede.
Junior Bitch 3 (0 abs) 1st Saunders Liefkees Albertine. Pleasing bitch with a very attractive feminine head, good balance of muzzle to back skull, nice spectacles and well placed ears. Up to size but not too big, with good bone, well sprung ribs, high set tightly curled tail, and good coat colour and texture. Moved nicely, should have a good future. 2nd Cabell’s Vandaban Willow, another well balanced bitch. Has a lovely neck and shoulders, and a good tail set. A little short in muzzle for me, and would prefer a darker eye. 3rd Francis & Wilding’s Swashway Material Girl.
Post Grad Bitch 4 (1 abs) 1st Swift’s Keyscourt Blue Angel. A very well constructed bitch, with everything in the right place. Nice wedge shaped head, with a dark well placed eye and good facial markings. Strong colour but markings could be a little clearer. 2nd Luckhurst’s Gavimir Gypsy Moth, nice outline, with a good tail set. Good construction, with good bone and feet. Well shaped head, but a little lacking in facial markings on the day. Moved well. 3rd Maycock’s Enreveyar Eternity.
Limit Bitch 9 (0 abs) 1st Gregory’s Neradmik J’Adore Amikirs. One of the hardest classes, topped by two lovely bitches, although of different types. Ideal size with excellent colour and markings. Lovely outline with very good neck and shoulders, and a high set tail. Pleasing head and expression with a dark muzzle and good spectacles. So much to like, and moved so well. Reserve CC. 2nd Francis and Wilding’s Swashway Drama Queen. My notes made on the day read very much the same as for the first in the class. Another beautiful bitch and has so many of the same attributes, For me I just preferred the head and what I felt to be the better overall balance of the winner on the day, but I bet that they will change places many times. 3rd Brunt’s Foxifayre Unforgettable Of Zandvoort.
Open Bitch 8 (0 abs) 1st Brewer’s Neradmik Rumour Has It. Gorgeous Bitch, beautiful wedge shaped head, Correct eye shape and placement with a dark muzzle and superb spectacles, set off by small well set ears. Lovely overall shape, with a good neck that she used to advantage, well set tail and good rib cage. Well fitting coat of the most beautiful colour, with good definition of markings, and the harshest of textures. Lovely bone, good feet and spot on for size. Moved cleanly, and oozing breed type. Both this bitch and the winner of Limit are what I would consider my ideal in a bitch. Would love to have been taking this little lady home with me. Bitch CC. 2nd Brown’s Ch. Rossvale Gone With The Wind. So easy to see why this well known champion has achieved so much. Beautifully constructed, with a compact body, good neck and high set tail. Feminine head, although would personally prefer just a little more length of muzzle for balance. Good bone and feet. Moved quite well. On the day preferred the head and definition of coat colour of the winner. 3rd Luckhurst’s Gavimir Hubble Bubble.
