I have known & loved this breed since 1969 & have to say that I am so very disappointed in the breeds decline to where it is today.

Serious breeders need to take a good hard objective look at the breed in the ring today. So many of the Keeshond being shown have moved so far away from the Standard as to be unrecognisable as the same breed. Go back to basics, get the size, colour, & conformation right once again & show us you still have the ability to produce Keeshond that conform to the Standard.

I see no point going into the centre of the ring to judge a dogs award history, I could do that at home if I wanted to play ‘follow my leader’, I should not be, nor was I interested in what had gone before, I was there to judge the dogs presented to me in comparison to the Standard, fearlessly, without favour & with integrity.

After much soul searching, I was distraught at Open Dog, but to be true to myself, had to withhold all awards in that class. In my view, on the day, the dogs were not of sufficient merit as to warrant entry into the stud book for numerous reasons including but not limited to, failing hocks, unsoundness, sagging toplines, orange coats, soft coats, overlong coats, oversize & being untypical of the breed.

I was so sorry to have to do this but it really is time to put these things right.

VD (2,1a) 1 Wilkin’s Ch Pommary Quick Silver at Whizzkees, nice size, well balanced with a good wedge shaped head, lovely dark well shaped eyes, of good colour & expression, nice moderate angles front & rear, level topline & firm loin, good coat colour with a good undercoat, sound & typical on the move. BV.
MPD (0).
PD (2,1) 1 Pattison’s Zandvoort Gettin’purrsonal, only 9 months, right for size, well balanced, super coat, grand harness markings, & black tip to tail, super wedge of a head, dark eye with spectacles, moderate in front & rear angulation, good round bone & neat feet, he is sound & of a good colour with a good undercoat. RCC & BP.
JD (2) 1 Hudson’s Shelderon Sacred Shadow, outstanding in his coat colour, definitely all shades of grey, right for size & substance. Good harness marking, nicely compact overall, with a good masculine wedge head, dark eye & neat ears, well off for bone with good tight feet. In full coat. Not just as sound as I would like in front, but he has plenty of time to tighten up; 2 Fusco’s Amikirs Lord Of The Bubbles, attractive masculine head, with good level back, his colour is good but lacks definition which may come with his next coat, still only a youngster, he is sound enough, an attractive dog.
PGD (3,1) 1 Janssen’s No Limit Van Het Earlskamp, compact, good size dog with correct neck & topline, head is well shaped wedge, dark well shaped eyes & neat ears, good rib shape, correct moderate angulation, level topline, & good tail; 2 Grahamslaw’s Shelderon Spirit Walker, correct for size & nicely shaded grey coat with a good undercoat, however he is a bit unsteady in front & not moving well.
LD (3) 1 Rose’s Rossvale Master Of Destiny for Esorkees, right for size, & with a lovely grey, all shades of coat, in super condition, he has lovely well defined harness markings, a good typical wedge head, dark well shaped eyes, super expression, good spectacle markings, neat ears & a solid sturdy body, good neck, topline & tail, well boned & neat feet, he is sound & light on his feet & he is just a honest Keeshond all through. CC & BOB; 2 Atkinson & Reed’s Byquy Will You Be Rich, good size & compact in body, just losing his coat, attractive in outline, with a good tail, neat feet & a very good head, masculine & typical; 3 Wilkin’s Pommary Ruff N’ready at Valindale.
OD (4) 1 Withheld; 2 Withheld; 3 Withheld.

VB (0).
MPB (1) 1 Hickson’s Kichigai Magic Dancer, just 7 months, quite a beauty, so precious, head is lovely, eyes are dark & well shaped, ears are small & neat, good round bone & neat little feet, moderately angled both ways, good deep rib & level topline, tail well set & carried, good harness marking, in good coat overall & sound when she settled, bit of a handful but so promising.
PB (3) 1 Pattison’s Eastkees Blue Diamond, good size, beautifully balanced & nicely compact girl. Coat is good for correct colour, well defined harness markings, well carried tail, nicely angulated front & rear, pretty feminine wedge head, dark well shaped eyes, well off for bone, & nicely sound on the move; 2 Kerr’s Caraspitz Good Luck Charm, scored in her head shape, eyes & ears, all quite textbook, she is between coats at the moment but has a good colour & she is a good size & moved out well; 3 Janssen’s Osiris Shining Bright Vet Het Eatrlskamp.
JB (4,2) 1 Palmer’s Shelderon Sugar And Spice, just such a good typical outline on this lovely girl, she is right for size & substance, has a good compact body, her coat colour is just right, all grey, well defined harness markings, correctly carried tail, strong level back, neat feet, & good bone. Her head is just right, so balanced & feminine, lovely well shaped dark expressive eyes with correct spectacles, lovely little ivy leaf ears. Good neck & shoulders, deep lengthy rib, she is just a quality bitch all through, so sound & stylish on the move. RCC; 2 Gregory’s Amikirs Fabulicious Time, most attractive bitch, well marked, good colour & coat, correct front & rear, good rib & tail, pretty feminine head with good expression.
PGB (5,2) 1 Janssen’s No Fear Van Het Earlskamp, quite a beauty, right for size, nicely balanced & compact, good neck & topline, lovely feminine head with super expression from her well shaped beautifully dark eyes. Neat ears, correct in colour & with a lovely harsh coat with correct well defined harness markings, sound both ways; 2 Grahamslaw’s Shelderon Secret Serenade, very pretty girl, with a good wedge shaped head, dark expressive well shaped eyes, she has a good neck, topline & tail, with good harness markings, well off for bone. Just not so steady in front today; 3 Wilkin’s Whizzkees Ebony Slipper.
LB (2) 1 Palmer’s Eastkees Foxy Lady at Shelderon, good for size & balance, level topline & good neck, super pretty head, well placed ear, dark eyes, good spectacles, moderate angulation, good texture & colour to her coat, I felt that she would benefit from having a bit more weight on her, of a really good colour; 2 Wilkin’s Whizzkees Ebony Sinders, nicely compact, & of such good coat colour & markings, sound & typical with a really pretty head, dark eye & neat ears, like winner I think she would be better with a bit more weight.
OB (3) 1 Reed’s Byquy Bam Bam, absolutely correct for size balance & outline, such a good topline, tail & neck, in good hard condition, neat feet, good bone, nicely angulated both ways, such a lovely feminine head, good wedge shape, dark well shaped eyes, neat little ivy ears, good spectacles, she is a real quality bitch who is all about breed type, her coat is all shades of grey, her undercoat is soft & profuse, her harness markings are well defined & she is just so sound, brisk & effortless on the move. In the challenge she didn’t put a foot wrong & her breed type & soundness was a joy for me. CC; 2 Janssen’s Int Ch Torrikees Shakira among Serenaubach, loved this bitch’s coat colour & type, she is so feminine, & again with good breed type, sound in body, legs & feet, good tail & topline, head is wedge & so pretty, dark eyes & good neat ears, her coat is super grey, grey, grey, well defined harness markings & good harsh texture, but today just not so sound on the move as winner, but she is a lovely Keeshond bitch; 3 Stubbings’ Vandersee Wedding Belle.
