Keeshonds
Numerically I was very pleased with the entry. However, I don’t mind admitting, it was probably the most difficult entry of this breed I have judged to date. Type was very varied, a good number were carrying far too much bodyweight and when combined with very heavy coats it was often difficult to weigh up balance or see their real shape. Apart from this two other things really struck me, firstly, what has happened to the small ivy-leafed shape ears, the majority were too large and very pointed. Secondly, in the past I have always admired the way Kees exhibitors have ring trained their charges making assessment a pleasure, not so today, several were very unco-operative and unsocialised. Just my view and I hope it will be accepted in the constructive manner it is intended for the future of the breed.
MPD(3,1abs) 1st Leach Bargeway Prince Charming, 8m and obviously much more advanced than his competitor, solidly built and clearly masculine but not in an exaggerated way, eyes dark but a touch bold, decent front assembly, well ribbed up for age, firm in topline with a high set and carried tail, shape to hindquarters and moved out true enough once settled, already in fairly adult coat of good texture, BP. 2nd Reed Byquy Night At The Opera, just 6m and very raw, compact in outline with super eye, straight front, ribs coming, level topline, turn to stifle, lack of coat makes him appear a little high in hock at present but hopefully age will rectify.
PGD(3,1) 1st Harris Neradmik All About The Boy for Watchkees, presents an attractive overall picture in a balanced frame, his head is proportioned and well laid out with width to skull, defined stop, well placed dark eyes and neat pencilling, the whole carried on an arched neck, he possesses a straight front with enough width to chest, ribs are sprung and carried back with a definable waist, excellent tail and set, neat low set hocks, felt he could have benefitted from a little more time spent on his coat but texture was good, true enough on the move and was able to hold off some good competition from older males to secure the RCC. 2nd Eggleston Bert Von Ricara, darker lad of handy size, also masculine but not overdone, preferred eye shape of 1, defined stop, could carry a bit more substance, ribcage well sprung, steady mover shown in offstanding coat.
LD(8,1) 1st Newman Leazehond Lightning Bolt, compact with well laid out head, dark eye of fair shape, reasonable ears, good markings and not too long in the muzzle, strong neck and front, well ribbed up, decent hindquarters with low set hocks, quality coat and a sound mover. 2nd Miles & Dean Neradmik Family Affair, close up here and very similar, super eye and expression, straight front with width to chest and neat feet, good neck and rib, good tail carriage and defined hindquarters, a sound mover but not stepping out quite as well as 1 today. 3rd Miles & Cullen Rossvale’s Legacy for Lekkerbak.
OD(11,2) Lovely class. 1st Peck, Matthews & Ransley, Wund R Y Workin For A Livin at Szaryk, upstanding darker coloured dog in a compact frame, masculine head carried on a super arched neck, dark well placed eye of good shape, well marked spectacles, defined stop, has just the right depth and spring to ribs coupled with appropriate length to leg allows him to move out freely and accurately, pleased to award him the CC & BOB. 2nd Wogan Ir Ch Neradmik Beach Boy avec Deminiac, well grown and masculine dog presented in expertly groomed coat, for me the extra weight and coat he carried today detracted from his shape, respectable mover who scored here in action, handled to advantage. 3rd Peck, Matthews & Stewart Ch Klompen’s Who’s Your Daddy.
MPB(5) Difficult class of very raw babies, would be interested to see them again in a few months time. 1st Wilkin Whizzkees Ebony Sinders, well grown and roomy young miss, head developing, decent straight front, excellent arched neck, ribs developing well for age, firm topline and tail set high, steady mover, evidence of a quality coat showing itself. 2nd Shreeve Bargeway Peaches and Cream, very similar in many respects, super dark eyes, good neck into reasonable front, firm in ribcage, body and topline, high set tail and a steady mover. 3rd Reed Byquy We Will Rock You.
PB(3,1) 1st Pattison Eastkees Silver Sixpence, presents a compact package, head is developing well, dark eyes well placed, decent neck and front assembly, ribs coming, tail set high on firm topline, definition to hindquarters, true enough on the move. 2nd Hill Whizzkees Ebony Silver for Plymkees, from a slightly bigger mould, not really settled to the job today, she possesses a super eye and expression, is well ribbed up with level topline and tail carried high, did not want to co-operate on the move and persisted in crabbing, in full coat of good harsh texture.
JB(2,1) 1st Brown Rossvale Hidden Destiny, at 14m I thought this young miss very promising, very typical in head with expressive dark eye of quite good shape, has the benefit of width to her straight front and spring of rib appropriate to her build, short coupled, good high set tail, well modelled rear, quality coat well presented, free mover.
PGB(1) 1st Broomfield Neradmik Pretty In Pink to Lowella, useful girl of 20m, maturing into a very presentable package, eyes dark and of quite good shape, strong neck, width to front, well sprung ribs and firm loin, tail set and carried high, moves out true with purpose.
LB(6,4) 1st White Neradmik Sunday Lovin, liked this girl very much, scored here on overall balance and length of leg, head properties are well distributed, dark expressive eye, better pigmentation, broad chest, arched neck into straight forelimbs, sound quarters, moves true and easy. 2nd Hickson Kichagai Ups A Daisy, ultra feminine with dark eye but not quite the expression of 1, straight front, arch to neck, well developed ribcage, good rear definition, steady mover.
OB(9,2) Very interesting class. 1st Brunt Vanstrand Quantum of Solace, stood out for her excellent balanced outline, upstanding with length to leg, neat well proportioned headpiece carried on beautiful arched neck which flows neatly into decent front assembly, well off for rib and body without excess, shown in full bloom and projects herself to maximum advantage, CC her second I understand, in the challenge for BOB I was spoilt for choice and felt the dog and bitch in the juxtaposition complimented one another in breed type. 2nd Gregory Ch Amirkirs Bubblecious, feminine young miss of just 20m, is very well put together and oozes quality, for me felt she still has more to come and would like to see her again in another year or so, could extol her other virtues but suffice to say that she can also move out with style, RCC. 3rd Watson Pommary Elite N ‘Klassic at Colpatron.
