North of England Keeshond Club July Open Show 2009 Judge : Mrs Carole Jackson (Carnor)
It was an honour for me to be asked by the committee to judge this show with a very warm welcome received. A sincere thank you to everyone.
On judging there were for both dogs and bitches a nice variation of quality types but with just a few concerns here and there I would like to mention.
Light and round eyes, losing the almond shape.
For movement a little concerning, with fronts and hindquarters.
Teeth bites correct, but just a few keeshonds teeth do need attention via kept clean.

MINOR PUPPY DOG – 1 ABS
PUPPY DOG – 1 ABS
JUNIOR DOG – 2
1ST : BRUNT’S ZANDVOORT DREAM MACHINE, 18 months old,
Wedge head balance was good. Dark eyes and clear markings, used ears well at all times. Good bone and tight cat feet. Maturing still, nice spring of rib cage, nice hindquarters, showed good balance outline. Nice short square standing, high set tail, in full coat, dark colour markings clear, movement and presentation good. 2ND : ATKINSON’S TORRIKEES WHO’S THE BOSS OF WINKLESTAR, 18 months old, another nice boy coming along, good wedge head balance, dark eyes, good shoulder lay, with nice spring of rib cage, nice bone, Colour dark and clear markings, nice square finish, slightly bigger then 1. Sadly unease on moving had mind elsewhere I would say.
Both quality dogs will change places in the future.
YEARLING DOG – 2 1ST : BRUNT’S ZANDVOORT DREAM MACHINE 2ND : ATKINSON’S TORRIKEES WHO’S THE BOSS OF WINKLESTAR
NOVICE DOG – NO ENTRIES
POST GRADUATE DOG – 1
1ST : HICKSON’S NATLOU YOUNG PRETENDER UNDER KICHIGAI. Nice fox like expression, nice wedge and muzzle correct balance for head. Dark oval eyes, neat ears set as required. Good reach of arch neck, nice shoulder lay, hindquarters and muscle good, nice bone, Super textured coat, colouring very clear markings, Tail set high, nice curl, laid on short back to complete the square finish. But would like just a little more in leg length. Other wise a very nice dog professionally shown.
LIMIT DOG – 6, 3AB
1ST : WILKES’ POMMARY ASHU LODALE FOR DAKARAIKEES, Lovely dog, Head points meet all expectations, overall sound bodied construction, good reach arch neck, well spring of rib cage, good tuck up to loin. Super bone, very good muscle tone and strong hindquarters. Hocks and pasterns used well to cover ground with drive and determination, sound movement. In full coat, good textured condition, saddle markings clear, coat just a little light, but worthy on the day for movement with professional handling to bring the best out of him. BEST DOG 2ND : BARTON’S ROSSVALE SPIRIT OF THE NIGHT AT COLLCRIST. Again another nice dog shown with good required head points, foxy expression, with wedge and muzzle balance. Clear dark impressive markings to the corner of ear stop, smaller head then 1, but impressive head this dog has. On structure balance had nice reach of arch neck, nice bone, sadly for movement just a bit wide on the front, coat in full bloom, with nice texture condition, nice colour with clear markings, nice curl of tail carried over back at all times, nicely presented. 3RD : CRAIG’S FLATMEER FLONKERLICHT

This young man of 9 years old, enjoying his turn in the ring. Super wedge head, delightful old fashion foxy expression. Dark rich oval eyes and well shown clear spectacles. Good bone, pasterns and hocks used well but generally on the movement just a little heavy going. He would benefit for just a little weight loss. Good textured and nicely groomed coat, true saddle markings. Nice square finish with high set tail over back to complete the picture. Really nice veteran dog.
