Keeshonds

I would like to thank the Richmond Committee, my helpful stewards and the exhibitors for a nice entry. Presentation was good and I was delighted with my main winners.
Movement was mixed but colour was mostly good. There is a distinct lack of fox-like heads, small ears and correct length of neck. I did try not to prolong the time the dogs spent in the ring but the heat took its toll on some dogs.

Veteran Dog (2 entries)
1 Thomas’s Torrikees the Clansman of Saraveta One I have always liked – compact body, plenty of coat of good texture, lovely head and expression with small well-set ears. Tail carried proudly. Still a keen showman and moved well.

2 Passmore’s Am Ch Trumpet’s Disco Inferno at Torrikees (Imp) Just qualifying for veteran this dog is substantial and all male but with no hint of coarseness. Attractive wedge-shaped head and excellent construction all round. Wonderful bone and cat-like feet. He was one of the best movers of the day with lovely free gait on a loose lead. Just lacking some coat today but a worthy champion.

Puppy Dog (3 entries)
1 Bell’s Allforus Top Gun Promising puppy displaying the correct outline. Coat of lovely colour and texture. Very attractive head with fox-like expression and clear spectacles. Good shoulders leading into an excellent reach of neck. Plenty of substance for age. Well-set tail carrying profuse plume. Moved soundly with confident carriage. Very attentive to his young handler who also aquitted himself very well. Reserve CC and Best Puppy

2 Brunt’s Foxifayre Flame Dancer of Zandvoort Similar in shape to 1, again with good set and plume of tail. Attractive head. Richly-coloured coat. Finer in bone and erratic on the move.

3 Newman’s Leazehond Edmundson

Junior Dog (1 entry)
1 Sharp-Bale’s Neradmik Take a Chance Profuse coat. Well-bodied and projects a balanced picture. Tail set high with large plume. Excellent bone and feet. Moved well at rear but wide in front today. Ears wide-set and a little plain in the head for me.

Post Graduate Dog (2 entries)
1 Bell’s Ffyniant Sugardaddy Allforus ShCM Correct size with good length of leg and reach of neck. Attractive wedge-shaped head and pleasing expression with dark eye and good spectacles. Held his topline on the move. Well shown and presented – just lacking a little in coat.

2 Wadmore-Smith’s Rossvale Latin Lover Larger type in good coat which was
well-presented and of good colour. Masculine head but shape and carriage of ears spoil the expression for me. Good length of neck and excellent body substance and bone, with deep chest and well-sprung rib.
Limit Dog (2 entries)
1 Coe’s Vandaban Van Dyke Wonderful type and size. I love his head and expression. Almond-shaped eye with nice spectacles and small well-placed ears. Carrying an abundance of richly coloured coat showing distinct markings and which was groomed to perfection. Good reach of neck, excellent spring of rib and short-coupled body. Superb bone and cat-like feet. Has firm muscle tone and moved freely on a loose lead with correct brisk gait. Absolutely at one with his owner. Dog CC

2 Eggleston’s Martellkees Crackerjack at Ricara A dog I have liked since a puppy and he is maturing nicely. Attractive head, body of good substance and nice bone. Fitted jacket of good colour and contrast. Moved briskly. Well presented.

Open Dog (4 entries)
1 Rose’s Valindale Rum Punch for Esorkees Super dog with compact body shape and good spring of rib. Dark eyes and small well-set ears contributing to a lovely head and expression. He has a correct, high-set and tightly-curled tail. Good construction all round. In excellent coat and condition. Moved well.

2 Gilbert’s Brykin Burletta Another dog I admire. Coming back into coat of good quality but just lacking definition today, though I am sure this will be rectified as his coat returns. Handsome head and expression with dark well-shaped eyes. Sturdy body with good
tail-set and length of neck. Well muscled and a pleasure to go over. Excellent bone and depth of chest. Well presented and moved fluidly. At one with his owner.

3 Matthews’ Eastkees Top Notch at Valindale

Veteran Bitch (4 entries; 1 absent)
1 Austin’s Ch Chotahkees Talk of the Town Heading a lovely trio of ‘ladies of a certain age’. Beautiful head and expression, excellent body and good reach of neck. Still a good colour. Moved with verve. A worthy champion.

2 Lindsay’s Vandaban Tabitha at Mezanda Very pretty head and correct body shape. In lovely coat. Moved and showed a little less enthusiastically than 1, probably due to the heat but still carried her tail proudly.

3 Brunt’s Ch Zandvoort Dream Come True

Puppy Bitch (2 entries)
1 Eggleston’s Ricara Italian Sweetheart Appropriately named, a sweetheart of a puppy with good length of leg and neck, good tail-set and tightly curled tail giving an excellent outline. Plenty of coat of good colour and texture. An excellent showgirl – she moved and showed with great confidence for one so young. Well presented and completely in tune with her owner. She should have an exciting future.

2 Wadmore-Smith’s Rossvale The Look of Love – and a lovely look she has. Still a baby but full of potential. Beautiful head and expression with the darkest of eyes giving a hint of her mischievous character. Well-placed ears. Compact and soundly made and moved very confidently. Coat of rich colour. Presentation very good and sympathetically handled. I hope she grows on a little – she has plenty of time to do so.

Junior Bitch (5 entries; 1 absent)
1 White’s Neradmik Bedazzled Morvania This young lady is just growing her first adult coat after discarding her puppy coat but this only served to accentuate her lovely body shape and length of neck. I am sure she will continue to improve as she matures. Coping with the heat very well, she was eager to please her handler. Stood four square and showed with animation. Moved very well.

2 Saunders’ Leifkees Albertine Bigger bitch but everything in proportion with excellent bone and feet, coming back into coat of good texture but paler in colour. Good shoulder placement and well-sprung ribs. Hard muscle tone. Well groomed. Fluid movement.

3 Lindsay’s Enreveyar Magic Star at Mezanda

Post Graduate Bitch (4 entries; 3 absent)
1 Cabell’s Vandaban Willow On her own but a nice bitch though slightly in-between coats. Good size with nice reach of neck and good shoulder placement. Attractive head and expression and full of spirit. Moved well.

Limit Bitch (4 entries)
1 Sharp-Bale’s Sturtmoor Crazy for Neradmik This typey bitch has matured vastly this year. Her body shape, high tail-set and length of neck give an excellent outline. In beautiful coat and condition with good contrast of colour. Sound on the move. A real showgirl. Reserve CC

2 Eggleston’s Martellkees A Love Affair for Ricara Unlucky to come up against 1 today and she has many of the same attributes. Similar in size and shape with high tail set and fitted coat of good texture and colour. So well-balanced. Correct brisk movement. Well shown and presented.

3 Brunt’s Foxifayre Unforgettable of Zandvoort

Open Bitch (4 entries; 1 absent)
1 Brown’s Ch Rossvale Gone with the Wind One I have admired from the ringside and she certainly does not disappoint on closer inspection. She oozes quality with all the right physical attributes but retains the true Keeshond spirit. Lovely head with well-set ears and expressive eyes. Sound body, excellent bone, legs and feet and moved well both front and rear. Plenty of coat of good colour and definition. High-set tail with impressive plume. Showing her heart out and just has an extra something special to set her apart. She could not be denied. Bitch CC and Best of Breed

2 Francis and Wilding’s Ch Swashway Drama Queen Very feminine bitch with clear silver coat with distinct markings. Compact body shape and moved well. Very attentive showgirl and beautifully presented.

3 Gregory’s Neradmik J’Adore Amikirs
