I thank the committee of this show for the appointment, and the exhibitors for their entries. I was fortunate to have two excellent stewards Mr Shone and Ms Korn.
Sadly, I have to say that based upon the entry on the day, and I think this was a representative entry, that the breed is currently in a bit of a lull. Many heads, especially in some of the younger stock were a little too heavy and short in muzzle. Colour and movement also need watching. That said I believe that my main winners are all excellent specimens who could win well in any situation.
Puppy Dog 6 entries (2 abs). 1, Henman and Peterson’s Foxifayre Doctor Zhivago. Stood away in class, twelve months on the day, nice outline with a good tail set, good bone, and feet. Nice head, dark eye, neat well placed ears, but ideally would like a little more length of muzzle. Never the less this did not distract from his overall quality. Moved very well in all directions. 2, Hopkins’s Helkeesen Regal Surfer. Similar qualities to first in class, which is not surprising as they share the same sire. Coat needs to clear and markings not definite. Didn’t move quite as well as first, threw right front leg slightly. 3, Baker’s Foxifayre Born Free. Litter brother to first, rather round eye and heavier in head. Coat needs to clear.
Junior Dog 3 entries (1 abs) 1, Wilkin’s Whizzkees Onyx Sampson. Nice outline, good tail set with tight curl to tail. Body colour and markings generally ok, but dark in head, making spectacle markings indefinite, moved a little close behind. 2, Wilkin’s Whizzkees Onyx Shadow. Litter brother to first in class. Similar in type and although not so heavy in head, appeared a little long in body and tail could be higher set. Close behind.
Post Graduate Dog 3 entries (1 abs) 1, Luckhurst’s Gavimir Checkmate. Very impressive eighteen months dog. Not a big boy but still masculine, oozing breed type and confidence. Good square outline with a good reach of neck and high set well curled tail. Well sprung ribs. Good coat quality and as usual from this kennel superb colour and definition of markings. Pleasing head and expression, good dark well shaped eye with very well defined spectacles, and well placed ears. Brisk mover. Standing foursquare in the line up what a pleasing sight this young man made. Deservedly took the Dog CC his first. 2, Wilkin’s Pommary Quick Silver At Whizzkees. Larger dog, a heavily coated and colour not so clear. A little light in eye and loose in front on the move.
Limit Dog 1 entry (0 abs) 1, Miles Allforus Frosting Over Lekkerbek JW Sh.CM. Stood alone but has lovely breed type. Beautiful outline, compact body, good neck, and tail set. Excellent colour and markings. Lovely head and expression, good spectacles. Unfortunately, this happy chap decided to play up on the day for his handler and in the challenge moved a little erratically. Reserve CC.
Open Dog 2 entries (1 abs) 1, Rose’s Rossvale Sacred Spirit To Esorkees. Up to size dog, good outline. Good reach of neck. Nicely shaped head, lips a little light in colour and eye could be darker. Darker overall colour with unclear markings. Movement could have been better.
Puppy Bitch 4 entries (2 abs) Torrikees American Affair. Nice size. Good outline well placed tail, excellent neck, and shoulders. Nicely shaped head but would like a darker eye. A little light in colour and lacking in definition of markings at the moment. Moved well in all directions. 2, Rose’s Neradmik Kisses’n Giggles For Esorkees. Nine months old baby, quite dark in colour at the moment and accordingly her markings were unclear. Appeared a little long in body and did not pull herself together well when standing. Moved ok, but requires a bit more time.
Junior Bitch 2 entries (0 abs) 1, Hickson’s Kichigai Special Edition. Eleven months old, and what a little poppet. Very feminine, not a big girl, Square outline with a good reach of neck, high tail set. Nice head with a well shaped eye, which although I would have preferred to be a touch darker did not detract from her expression. Good spectacles and well placed ears. Coat of good texture and colour with very well defined markings. Movement very good. Best Puppy in Breed and Best Junior. 2, Wilkin’s Whizzkees Onyx Sapphire. A little long in body and tail set could be higher, pretty head and expression. Very strong colour and markings.
Post Graduate Bitch. 4 entries (2 abs) 1, Luckhurst’s Gavimir Chantilly Lace. Nice overall type, good colour, and markings. Pleasing head and expression, a little unsteady on the move. 2, Bardsley and Ring’s Baleissa Indian Summer. Larger bitch, slightly longer in back than first. Good tail set. Darker in colour but markings still discernable. Plainer in head. Good mover.
Limit Bitch 5 entries (2 abs) 1, Pattison’s Eastkees Say No More. Lovely bitch, excellent overall shape, really good neck, shoulders, and a well placed tightly curled tail. Pleasing overall colour. Pretty head and expression with well placed ears, good dark eye. Excellent mover. Reserve Bitch CC. Found out after the judging that this bitch already has one CC, and I am not surprised. 2, Sharpe-Bale’s Neradmik Chanel. Another nice bitch that has much to like about her. Good outline, high set tail, but first in class had a little more neck and the edge on movement on the day. 3, Francis & Wilding’s Swashway Material Girl. Smaller bitch of a different type. Short, compact body and a lovely overall shape when she held her tail up-which sadly was not often. Excellent neck and shoulders and a really pretty head. Lovely colour and markings, just such a pity that she would not show
Open Bitch 6 entries (2 abs) 1, Ch Lady Godiva’s Guilty Pleasures With Neradmik. Good overall bitch that I have often admired from the ringside. Lovely compact outline with a very high set tightly curled tail. Excellent neck and well placed shoulders, which showed in her very good front movement. Well sprung body, and well boned without being coarse, very good feet. Her head is well proportioned, feminine, she has a good dark well-shaped eye, with clearly defined spectacles, and good ear set. Just coming back into a crisp new jacket with well-defined body markings. She moved superbly in all directions and whenever I looked in her direction, she stood completely foursquare, right up on her toes and demanded not to be ignored. Bitch CC and Best of Breed. 2, Francis & Widing’s Swashway Stage Stuck. Another old favourite of mine. Good square outline with a very well placed tail set. Nice neck and shoulders and a very feminine head and expression. Coming back into a new coat of a very clean colour and markings, which gave her the edge over the third in class toady. Moved well in front although a little loose behind. 3 Luckhurst’s Ch. Gavimir Hubble Bubble. Nice size and type, pretty head. Good overall colour and markings. A worthy champion but unfortunately did not move as well as she can today. 4, Bardsley’s Baleissa Catwalk Queen.
Best Breeder in Breed, Luckhurst’s handsome group of four.
