Judging Critique for Southern Counties Ch. Show – 30th May, 2014
KEESHONDS
Many thanks to the officers of the Society for affording me the opportunity to judge Keeshonds at this level for the first time and also thanks to all exhibitors for a very good entry in the present climate. I was delighted with my principle winners but rear movement in particular needs to be addressed although the cow hocks I have found in the past were not in evidence. There were several light eyes on display. Type varied considerably. Most exhibitors were very sporting regarding my decisions and I enjoyed my day amongst them.
Puppy Dog (1) 1 absent
Junior Dog (2) 1st Miles, Cullen & Browns ROSSVALE’S LEGACY FOR LEKKERBEK Super head and expression with well placed ears set off by neck arch of neck into good topline and nice tail set. Very well balanced, being short coupled and I preferred his rear movement to the seconds. 2nd Lindsay MEZANDA MADOG’S STORM Well balanced dog being short coupled with nice reach of neck into true topline. Pleasing head but I would prefer the ears a little closer together. Good tail set and moved OK but just lacked the substance of the winner.
Post Graduate Dog (4) 1 absent 1st Miles & Dean NERADMIK FAMILY AFFAIR WITH LEKKERBEK Well balanced head set off by good ear placement and lovely dark eye with good spectacles. Good reach of neck into nice topline. Short coupled with ample body substance and moved OK. 2ND Waller BRYKIN BIG CHIEF Another well balanced, short coupled dog with excellent tail set and topline and in good coat. Moved OK both ways but would like more of him all round. 3rd Burwin HOADSBERG ALEXEI
Limit Dog (8) 2 absent 1st Peck, Mathews & Stewart KLOMPEN’S WHO’S YOUR DADDY (imp) This one gave me a bit of a headache. Smaller type than the second but an excellent head, eye and ears. Excellent conformation, standing square being short coupled and in excellent body and good spring of rib. Pleasing neck and good depth of brisket and moved out very well indeed both ways, being one of the best movers today. I personally would like him a little bigger and of better colour but there’s a lot of exciting dog in this frame. Sure to gain his title but RCC today.
2nd Miles & Cullen NERADMIK GAME PLAN FOR LEKKERBEK Nice size with masculine head, well placed ears, excellent body substance and spring of rib. Moved out well but I still preferred movement and balance of the winner. 3rd Tew BARGEWAY KEEN TO RUMBLE
Open Dog (5) 2 absent 1st Wadmore-Smith CH HUNNIVOLES WOODY VALENTINE JW. This one turned out to be my star of the day being full of quality. I felt he excelled in head with good skull and lovely well placed ears that were also used well. Good bone with excellent rib and super body substance. Lovely size but was also well balanced, standing square and having good depth of brisket. In excellent coat and of good colour and moved out well for the CC and BOB. 2nd Blankenship AM CH TRUMPET’S IT’S GOOD TO BE KING Another dog with good head, eye and ear and of good conformation. Well bodied and coat of good colour. And moved out pleasingly both ways.
3rd Burwin HOADSBERG ALEXEI

Veteran Dog & Bitch (3) 1 absent 1st Peck CH VALINDALE FIXED ASSETS FOR BYQUY (Dog) A veteran that I seriously considered in the challenge. Good size in full bloom and good colour. Super head with excellent body and nice rib. Good shape all round and really enjoyed his day. I considered him to be the best mover of all on the day. If only he would use his ears to advantage 2nd Waller BRYKIN BANDORA (Bitch) Feminine head with good eye and super ears. Good conformation with nice neck and moved OK but not in the best bloom and would prefer more body substance.

Puppy Bitch (2) 1st Brown ROSSVALE HIDDEN DESTINY This is an exciting one for the future that will surely gain her title. She is of excellent balance, short coupled, nice size, good bone, super rib and body substance, with very feminine head, dark eye with good specs. and good ears giving that excellent expression. In full bloom and already with good colour and one of the few that moved out well, commanding the ring. I am reluctant to award puppies top honours (they can change so much) but I am very confident that the owner has a big winner on her hands. CC today and hopefully the first of many. 2nd Ransley KEESRIDGE FAITH TRUSTNPIXIE DUST AT SZARYK (Imp) Another pleasing puppy and to had good colour and coat. Very feminine head with well placed ears and good front assembly. Showed very well and moved OK but was very slightly longer cast that first and I would like more of her.
Junior Bitch (5) 2 absent 1st Bloomfield NERADMIK PRETTY IN PINK TO LOWELLA Pleasing head balance with nice neck into good spring of rib and super body substance. A well balanced bitch in good bloom and moved out well. Seriously considered for RCC 2nd Bardsley NERADMIK HIGH SOCIETY AT SKATHKI Very similar comments apply to this one who could easily change places on another occasion. Lovely head but expression spoiled today by her ears being a shade wide for me. Moved pleasingly both ways. 3rd Brunt SUEACRES PLATIGNUM DIAMOND OF ZANDVOORT
Post Graduate Bitch (7) 1 absent 1st Lloyd & Bannister VALINDALE TOOT TOOT TOOTSIE Bitch in full bloom and of nice size. Stood square, being short coupled with lovely head and eye. Nicely boned and moved out well both ways. 2nd Pattison EASTKEES DAISY’S MAYHEM Smaller bitch but well proportioned with good balance. Feminine head, dark eye and super ears. Stood square with coat of good colour and moved OK. 3rd Brunt BARGEWAY NEARLY AN ANGEL OF ZANDVOORT
Limit Bitch (6) 1 absent 1st Passmore TORRIKEES VICTORIA’S SECRET Very feminine in head with dark eye, good skull and true ear placement. Again she stood very square and had good bone. Lovely all round shape and moved pleasingly. Not in top bloom today but this did not detract from her qualities. RCC 2nd Hickson KICHIGAI UPS A DAISY ShCM Another well balanced bitch with lovely head and eye. Good rib into nice body substance and excellent bone. In full bloom and moved out OK. Could change places with the winner on another day. 3RD Stubbings VANDERSEE WEDDING BELLE
Open Bitch (3) 1 absent 1st Austin & Johnston CHOTAHKEES ENCHANTRESS Nice well balanced head with true expression. Good conformation and body substance. Super bone and good tail carriage. Moved OK 2nd Saunders LIEFKEES ANNABELL Pleasing head, good ears, well bodied, slightly longer cast that winner but OK for a bitch. Moved out well.
