04 Breed Notes – Manchester 2019

It was CC’s back at Manchester after an absence of nearly 30 years and our judge Liz Dunhill, who was awarding CC’s in the breed for the 1st time had drawn an entry of just 32 dogs with 2 absentees. Keesies were in one of the annexes at Stafford – the Argyle Hall and were 2nd in the ring after 42 German Spitz Mittels. Judging started around 11.00am and was all over by 1.00pm.

DCC with BOB was Melanie Harris’ Ch Neradmik All About The Boy for Watchkees JW ShCM (Ch Am Ch Kemonts Skylines Game Boy (imp USA) x Ch Lady Godiva’s Guilty Pleasures with Neradmik (imp Fin)). It was another RDCC for Mel Harris’ Neradmik Cary Grant for Watchkees (Imp Can) (Am Ch Designer’s Fedx x Can Ch Neradmik Academy Award) winner of Post Graduate.

Winning her crowning third CC was Sue Lindsay’s Cosmic Dream’s Damn You Look Good for Mezanda (Imp Nor) (Dungens Never Ending Dream x Dungens Kosmic Love) who was just 2 weeks out of puppy. Asta’s first CC came at the North of England Keeshond Club’s Ch Show in November from Finish Judge Maja Talvitie and her second came a couple of weeks later at BUBA from German Judge Georg Walther.

It was a first RCC with Best Puppy for Dawn Gregory’s Amikirs Doubly Delicious (AI) (Am Ch KJ’s Hot Date x Ch Amikirs Bubblelicious)

Caron Bell and Foxifayre Keep The Faith With Allforus (AI) won a VHC in the Eukanuba Puppy Stakes from Judge David Guy.

But Manchester, do we really need yet another general Ch show with CC’s held at the Stafford County Show Ground? We already have 3 sets there, plus 2 at the NEC and with 1 at nearby Stoneleigh, plus a breed club Ch show also held at Stoneleigh; Manchester now makes a total of nine Ch Shows with CC’s in the Midlands area – almost half the breeds CC allocation.

Yet we have none the ‘eastern side’ of the M1. Although Keesies haven’t had CC’s at East of England since 1997; the show invariably gets a good entry – often higher than some of the Ch shows which do offer CC’s. I can understand the timing – last minute qualifier for Crufts etc; but surely Boston held at the East of England Showground would be a better option?

Equal distribution of CC’s doesn’t come into the equation as there is already one representative championship show held at Stafford – Birmingham National held just three months later. A CC allocation for keesies at either of the championship shows (Boston or EoE) held at Peterborough would have made more sense.

Gill Brunt has finally got all the claims for the Club’s Annual Trophies sorted and the results are as follows:
The Kultz Trophy for Top Kennel was Mezanda (Sue & David Lindsay) with 148 points.

For the seventh year running, it was the same dogs winning both the Galdrik Cup for Top Stud Dog – Joan Miles and Susan & Kristen Cullen’s Ch Am Can Ch Kemont’s Skyline Game Boy (imp USA) with 200 points and the Galdrikette Cup for Top Brood Bitch was Jean Sharp Bale’s Ch Lady Godiva’s Guilty Pleasures with Neradmik (imp Fin) with 203 points.

The Vanglede Memorial Trophy for most wins at Club Shows was won by Gill Brunt’s Zandvoort Mr Bond with 19 points. The Ch Waakzaam Waalre Trophy for Breeder of Top Junior was Sally & Laura Newman’s Leazehond Prairie Flower with 38 points; who also won the Duroya Trophy for Top Winning Dog without a CC with 65 points

The Ruyde of Rayverne Goblet for Dog or Bitch winning the most RCC’s was won with Ch Neradmik Kiss Chase with Lekkerbek who had 3 and the Keetah Trophy for Top Junior Handler was Callum Wright. The Enreveyar Coffee Set for Our Dogs’ Top Dog was Mel Harris’ Ch Neradmik All About The Boy for Watchkees and the Enreveyar Cup for Our Dogs’ Top Puppy was Carol Bardsley’s Skathki Just Got Wicked.

Winner of the Boreasvale Memorial Trophy for Best Veteran was Gill Brunt’s Ch Zandvoort Dream Machine with 25 points, closely followed by Tom and Caroline Gate and Michelle Wright’s Lacetrom Cruivie with 23 points.

Ch Am Can Ch Kemont’s Skyline Game Boy (Ferris) Annual Progeny Cup for Top Stud was won by Gill Brunt’s Ch Zandvoort Dream Machine with 25 points and the Shelderon Cup Brood Bitch Award was won by Gill’s Ch Vanstrand Quantum of Solace with 47 points.
