05 Breed Notes – KC open 2022

The Keeshond Club held their January Open Show on a very blustery Saturday, held as usual at Roade Village Hall. The judge was Sue Wilkes (Dakaraikees) who had drawn an entry of 32 dogs with 9 absentees. Both the Puppy Dog & Novice Dog were absent and there were no entries at all in the Special Yearling & Post Graduate classes for both dogs and bitches.

The show opened with the Special Awards Classes being judged first by Anne Speake who had 11 Keesies entered with 4 absentees.

Sue Wilkes awarded Best Dog to the winner of Open, Joan Miles and her daughter Sarah’s Ch Neradmik Kiss Chase with Lekkerbek (Ch Neradmik Family Affair with Lekkerbek x Ch Neradmik Miss Holly Berry) Whilst Reserve Best Dog went to George and Sharon Rose’s Ch Rossvale Master Of Destiny for Esorkees (Ch Neradmik Handsome Hero x Rossvale Scarlett’s Secret) from Veteran.

Best Bitch and Best in Show was Jean Sharp Bale and Jane Ring’s Neradmik Tantrums ‘N’ Tiaras (Ch Samkees With Love to Neradmik (imp Mlt) x Ch Neradmik Grace Kelly (Imp Can)) Dolly was also Best Puppy in Breed. Reserve Best Bitch went down to the other end of the line to Gill Brunt’s Ch Vanstrand Quantum of Solace (Ednaaron Hawkweed of Vanstrand x Leazehond Starshine Galaxy for Vanstrand) who was also Best Veteran in Show.

With two storms set to batter the north of the country, it probably wasn’t the best weekend for an outdoor gathering; as on the Sunday it was quality, not quantity for the 2nd Scottish walk being held this month. The dreadful weather & gales meant some people couldn’t make it. Four Keesies – Jura, Talyn, Skye and Zola with their intrepid owners turned up and a good time was had by all, especially playing chase with some of the other dogs there.

Don’t forget that if you haven’t already entered, entries for the Club’s open show (19th Feb) close this Saturday – 5th February (Cavalier Impressions) It’ll be a leisurely start for everyone as our show doesn’t open until 1.00pm.
