07 Breed Notes – Feb 2018

Nichola Kerr and Levi Altere V Kees Uit De Polder’s) had a day to remember last weekend at Ashington & DCS’s open show. Young Erik started the day off winning BOB & Best Puppy; he then got 2nd in the Utility group, won the Puppy Utility group and then ended up being awarded Best Puppy in Show under Judge Stanley Drysdale (Portmain) all at just 9 months old!

Not to be out done, a few days later Erik’s kennel mate Viggo (2 year old Shelderon Solar System) passed his Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Silver Award at their Training Club K9 Academy at North Shields. Proving that he too isn’t just a pretty face; both Nichola and breeder Debbie Palmer are very ‘proud mums’!

In my notes last week, I said that the north of England’s AGM started at 10.00am. Whoops, I should have said that the AGM starts at 10.30am and the hall is open from 10.00am.

Whilst on the subject of time changes etc, at Crufts the judging for Keeshonds has now been given the later start time of 10.00am.

Some sad news to end my notes with this week; as I heard from Josée Vanhaelen that Marianne Diericx has finally lost her long battle with cancer. Marianne’s name may not be familiar to most of you, but along with Josée and Corinna she made up the ‘Belgium trio’ who have helped me (especially with the overseas visitors) for all four days on the Breed stand at Discover Dogs for many years. She was a very brave lady.
