07 Breed Notes – Feb 2026
Just a few bits this week:-
A notice which I’m sure will be of interest to many appeared in the Vet times the other week re Virbac unveiling a new L2 leptospirosis vaccine for dogs, which it believes will play a “crucial role” in minimising the disease’s risks.
Virbac is pleased to be able to offer Canixin L, allowing those using Canixin DHPPi/L to vaccinate with L2 only in the intermediate years. Canixin L, has been developed to stimulate an immune response against two key serogroups of Leptospira interrogans, Canicola and Icterohaemorrhagiae.
It also provides an excellent opportunity for practices with clients specifically requesting an L2 vaccine. The product is available for use in dogs from eight weeks old, with a second injection to be administered three to four weeks after the initial dose.
The NoEKC’s open show this weekend is at Netherton Village Hall, WF4 4LR. The Open Show Judge Allyson King and SAC judge Linda Divers have an entry of 32 dogs; the show opens at 11.30am with judging starting at 12.00pm.
Subject to demand a Puppy Walk will be held and the Club’s annual trophies will also be presented to the winners on the day – at some point!!
There will be bacon butties, hot food and home-made cakes available throughout the day and any contributions to the raffle table will be much appreciated!
