12 Breed Notes – March 2024

I’m starting these notes with an apology, as it was Susi Gardner’s young boy Frey, Devonia’s Love Wil Find A Way for Manzanakees who was Cruft’s Best Puppy – not his sister which I said in last week’s notes.

Whilst on the subject of Crufts, Michelle Wright is still recovering from her traumatic stay at the Tamworth Travel Lodge. Because the rooms were so hot, (despite the heating being turned off) Michelle and her mum decided to leave the 2 younger Keesies in the car, which was parked outside their room.

So you can imagine her shock and horror when going to see to the dogs around 6.00am and despite being parked in full view (and in front of) security cameras, in an extremely well-lit spot in the car park, her car had been broken into. Nothing was taken, but the most alarming thing was that Abbie & Max where still inside the car in their cages. A crowbar was used to try and prise open the tailgate, and when that failed the thieves smashed the rear window., but were unable to get inside. Fortunately, the cages were away from the back and all the broken glass and both dogs were OK.

The police turned up quickly, but as yet, nothing has been picked up from the cameras. Which begs the question what’s the point of having security cameras if a) no-one is watching them and b) they aren’t recording what’s going on??? Needless to say, that’s the last time Michelle will ever leave her dogs unattended in a car.

At Retford & DCS, Gill Brunt’s young Belle (Zandvoort Grace’s Secret) finished off her puppy show career in style by winning the Junior class and then beating her father Darik (Ch Divnyi Drug Dar) for Best of Breed under judge Darren Pearson and then went on to win both the Utility Group and Utility Puppy Group from judge Sheila Thomson.
