16 Breed Notes – KC Ch 2023

The Keeshond Club’s Ch show was held for the first time at Roade Village Hall, where our judge Melanie Reed Peck (Byquy) (who last judged us at Blackpool in 2021) had drawn an entry of 40 dogs with 9 absentees. Judging started at 10.00am and after an hours lunch break was all over and done with by 3.30pm

Limit Dog and Veteran Bitch were the largest classes of the day with each having 4 Keesies entered, but only all the oldies were present and Puppy Dog was the only class with no entries. It was certainly a day for firsts and ‘the babies’ as the awards stayed down one end for both the challenges.

From Junior Dog and winning his first big green card was Ann Down’s Liefkees Assisi (Ch Quasars Brilliant Light van het Earlskamp Serenaubach (Imp Bel) x Liefkees Adina) It was also a first RDCC for Rachel Tew’s Torrikees Purple Rein (Ch Quasars Brilliant Light van het Earlskamp Serenaubach (Imp Bel) x Ch Torrikees Lust For Life) handled by Val.

At her first Ch show, aged just 7½ months and sweeping the board winning the BCC, Best in Show, Best Puppy in Show and the Jere Collins trophy for Best Mover from Minor Puppy Bitch was Michelle, Tom & Caroline Gate’s Winklestar Alsephina via Lacetrom (Vivids Majestic Prince of Winklestar (Imp USA) x Winklestar Serendipity) handled as usual by Michelle Wright.

Also winning her first RBCC with Reserve Best in Show from the Puppy class was Jean Sharp Bale’s Neradmik Pandora’s Box (Neradmik Canache at Bisukees x Ch Neradmik Grace Kelly (Imp Can)) Best Veteran in Show was the second in Open Dog, Joan Miles and her daughter Sarah’s Ch Neradmik Kiss Chase with Lekkerbek (Ch Neradmik Family Affair with Lekkerbek x Ch Neradmik Miss Holly Berry)

There were some visitors to the show sitting ringside, Doris Purdon and her son Chris, Eileen Wilding with Lynn Goddard and Gay Smith to name but a few; along with people who had come to see what the breed was like.

This is also your last reminder for your contributions for Walkee Talkees; if you haven’t already sent them to Andy Fitches, then please do so ASAP.
