19 Breed Notes – SKC 2023
At SKC it was an early start for exhibitors as not only was Utility day a Friday, we were first in the ring with a 9.00am start. Our judge was well known ‘all rounder’ Frank Kane (who last judged us at Manchester in 2020) and he had drawn an entry of 29 Keesies with 5 absentees. The biggest class of the day was Veteran Bitch with 5 girls present, the Junior bitch was absent and there were no entries for Special Beginners bitch and it was all over by 11.00am.
It was a day of firsts as winning his 1st big green card was Shelagh Craig’s Flatmeer Florisel (Bargeway Keen To Rumble x Flatmeer Fleurette) handled as usual by a very surprised (& emotional) Charlotte. I think that I’m also correct in saying that it’s the first time a Keesie has won a CC from a Good Citizen Dog Scheme class. The RDCC went to the Open winner Sharon and George Rose’s Rossvale Endeavour to Esorkees (Zandvoort Purrsonal Life x Ch Rossvale Hidden Destiny) who was handled by Steve Brown.
Also winning her first big green card with Best of Breed was Jean Sharp Bale’s Neradmik Shimmer ‘N’ Shine (Ikon’s Shine In The Spotlight x Neradmik Norma Jean) from Post Graduate with the RBCC again going to the winner of Open, Wendy McKean’s Ch Kichigai It Takes Two at Yawren (Ch Neradmik All About The Boy for Watchkees x Kichigai Lilac Wine) Best Puppy was Michelle, Tom & Caroline Gate’s Winklestar Alsephina via Lacetrom (Vivids Majestic Prince of Winklestar (Imp USA) x Winklestar Serendipity) handled as usual by Michelle Wright.
It’s not often that I praise the Kennel Club, but credit where credit’s due to their Registrations Department. I placed my online litter registration with them at 1.00pm, had a phone call at 3.00pm to say that I needed to change a name and at 5.02pm got an email confirming my amended litter registration was successful and the certificates were in the post. That all took 4 hours – an impressive service; let’s hope it is a sign of things to come!
