21 Breed Notes – SKC 2025

Last weekend it was all up to Edinburgh for SKC’s double show. Keeshonds first show was the SKC all-breed Ch show, where our judge was Sue Butterfield who was awarding CC’s in Keesies for the first time. We were second in the ring after 32 Standard Poodles, so our judging started around 10.15am. Sue had drawn an entry of 17 dogs with just one absentee; there were no entries in either Junior or Good Citizen Dog Scheme classes and Special Beginners Bitch.

Winning his first big green card with Best of Breed was Comperat & Truelove’s Bargeway Boomerang (Quest’ Eastkees Del Monte Dragnone (imp Ita) x Bargeway With Grace) who won both the Post Graduate and Special Beginners classes. It was one of those days I’m sure that Cerys won’t forget in a hurry as she and Logan also got short listed in the Group under judge Sally Pointon. The RDCC went to the winner of Veteran, Hickson’s Ch Only The Lonley (Bert von Ricara (imp Den) x Kichigai Special Edition)

The BCC was the Gate’s Ch Winklestar Alsephina Via Lacetrom (Vivids Majestic Prince of Winklestar (imp USA) x Winklestar Serendipity) handled as usual by Michelle Wright; with the RBCC going to my Flatmeer Fleur’s Krystal (Milan Grey Giant Tichauspitz x Flatmeer Fleur Dilly) from Limit. Best Puppy was Caron Bell’s Allforus Miracle of Love (Torrikees Crazy Love x Allforus Game Set N’Match)

Following on after a brief 5-minute break in the same ring was SKC’s second general Ch show, where there were no CC’s on offer for Keesies. Our judge was Chris Toynton, who had drawn an entry of 14 dogs with 2 absentees, and there were no entries in Special Beginners Bitch.

Best Dog was Cerys and Bargeway Boomerang again from Post Graduate and Special Beginners, with Reserve Best Dog going to the winner of Open, Natasha and Ch Kichigai’s Only The Lonley. Best Bitch with Best of Breed was my Flatmeer Fleur’s Krystal with Reserve Best Bitch going to the second in Open, Michelle and Ch Winklestar Alsephina Via Lacetrom. Best Puppy again was Caron and Allforus Miracle Of Love. The judging of both shows was over by 1.45pm.

The following day was a bit cooler, but ideal weather for the Yorkshire Keesie Walk which was held at Pontefract Racecourse. Nine Keesies (Olympia, Tooin, Fiver, Dallas, Frankie, Henry, Caspar, Jorja and Miso) and their owners enjoyed a good walk around the racecourse. Another walk is planned there for later on this year.
