21 Breed Notes – SKC 2026

Starting these notes with a reminder that the Keeshond BAD with group mentoring is being held on 18th July at Nether Whitacre Village Hall, B46 2EH. Hosted by both breed clubs, there are still places available; if interested, please get in touch with Melanie at byquyfamily@gmail.com for an application form. For SKC’s double Ch show, Utility day was on Friday, another week day which must affect entries. Keesies were third in the ring after 30 Standard Poodles who were entered in each of the Ch shows. Keesie judging started just after 12.00pm and both shows were finished by 2.15pm

First up was SKC’s October General where we have no CC’s on offer and our judge was Richard Lemon who had drawn an entry of 13 dogs with 2 absentees. There were no entries in both Special Beginners classes and Puppy Bitch.

Best Dog, Best Veteran and Best of Breed was Natasha Hickson’s Ch Only The Lonley VW ShCex (Bert von Ricara (imp Den) x Kichigai Special Edition) Reserve Best Dog and Best Puppy went to Mel Harris & Jean Sharp-Bale’s Neradmik Shooting Star (Ch Aragorn Elessar Elfiyskiy Berill x Ch Neradmik Pandora’s Box)

Best Bitch went to Wendy McKean’s Ch Kichigai It Takes Two at Yawren (Ch Neradmik All About The Boy for Watchkees x Kichigai Lilac Wine) and Reserve Best Bitch was Caron Bell’s Allforus Miracle Of Love (Torrikees Crazy Love x Allforus Game Set N’Match)

Following on was SKC’s All Breed Ch show, where the start of judging was delayed whilst we waited for Jane Usher and young Angus – Neradmik Let There Be Rock at Murmansk, who was in the Puppy stakes and got a 5th place despite being naughty.

Our judge was Steve Jones who was awarding CC’s in the breed for the first time and he had drawn an entry of 17 Keesies with 2 absentees. There were no entries in both Special Beginners classes, Good Citizen Dog Scheme Dog, Puppy and Limit Bitch and the Junior Bitch was absent.

The DCC with Best of Breed went to the Veteran winner, Natasha Hickson’s Ch Only The Lonley VW ShCex (Bert von Ricara (imp Den) x Kichigai Special Edition) with the RDCC going to second in Veteran, Sharon Rose’s Ch Rossvale Endeavour to Esorkees (Zandvoort Purrsonal Life x Ch Rossvale Hidden Destiny) who was handled by Sheila Brown

It was a crowning 3rd CC for my Flatmeer Fleur’s Krystal (Milan Grey Giant Tichauspitz x Flatmeer Fleur Dilly) Dallas won her first CC at SUBC from Janet Kay in 2024 and her second a few months later at the NoEKC’s Ch show under Robin Searle. The RBCC went to Caron Bell’s Allforus Miracle of Love (Torrikees Crazy Love x Allforus Game Set N’Match) from Post Graduate.

Best Puppy was Mel Harris & Jean Sharp-Bale’s Neradmik Shooting Star (Ch Aragorn Elessar Elfiyskiy Berill x Ch Neradmik Pandora’s Box)

Some sad news that Doreen Nuttall passed away last week. There’s not many of us left who remember Ron & Doreen, who started showing in the 80’s; but their boy Keesland Jumping Jack Flash of Vandorne is behind many of today’s Keesies having sired Doris & Bill Purdon’s Ch Vanwall Comanche Chief. The last dog they showed was Ch Desanti Nijinsky of Vandorne. Although it was Ron (he passed away about 4 years ago) who always showed the boys, Doreen was always there supporting him. I remember at one outdoor Ch show, Ron had to miss going into the dog challenge as Doreen had decided to take their boy for a walk around the showground and no-one could find them in time – this was in the days before mobiles were invented!! They were generous supporters of both clubs, with Doreen being renowned for the two lovely cakes she would always bake for every club show. The funeral service will take place at Shrewsbury Emstrey Crematorium on 2nd of June at 11.30am.
