23 Breed Notes – Border Union 2023

It was a case of third time (or judge) lucky at Border Union last weekend, as exhibitors got to the benching only to find that there was yet another change of judge. Dawn Gregory (Amikirs) (who last judged us at LKA in 2019) and was the replacement for Janice Bannister, had withdrawn from her appointment at the last minute and all-rounder Keith Baldwin (who judged us at at Birmingham City last year awarding CC’s for the 1st time) stepped in at the 11th hour. Keesies still managed to be first in the ring with a 9.00am start; but everyone had to up sticks and move from one side of the showground to the other so Keith could judge them before he went on to judge his Pom entry – with an entry of 20 Keesies with 10 absentees it didn’t hold them up for very long.
There were just 5 dogs and 5 bitches present, with no entries in both the Yearling & Graduate classes and Limit Dog, and the entries in both Post Graduate classes, Veteran Dog and Limit Bitch were absent.

It was a fourth CC with Best of Breed for Debbie Hopkins’ Ch Quasars Brilliant Light Van Het Earlskamp Serenaubach (Am Ch Trumpet’s It’s Good To Be King (Imp USA) x Bel Ch Joyfull van het Earlskamp) handled as usual by Simon Oakley. It was another RDCC for the Matthews family & Tracy Lee’s Winklestar Deneb at Valindale (Winklestar Reggie x Winklestar Serendipity) who was also Best Puppy.

BCC with Best Veteran was Alison & Ivan Passmore’s Ch Torrikees Victoria’s Secret (Ch Am Ch Kemonts Skylines Game boy (imp USA) x Torrikees American Affair (AI)) with the RBCC going to the other end of the line to Michelle, Tom & Caroline Gate’s Winklestar Alsephina via Lacetrom (Vivids Majestic Prince of Winklestar (Imp USA) x Winklestar Serendipity) handled as usual by Michelle Wright.

For those of you who may not have heard, Pauline Wilson’s funeral is to be held on Monday 26th June at2.00pm at Rotherham Crematorium, S65 3NN.
