Border Union has always been one of my favourite shows; it’s held in a lovely part of the country and is a ‘must do holiday show’ for many exhibitors as when the weather’s good it’s glorious. But the recent weather would have tested even the hardiest of campers. So it must have come as relief on Sunday that the judging was able to be held outside as the torrential rain had finally stopped, the sun came out and there was a slight breeze for the dogs. It must have felt almost tropical in comparison to earlier on in the week!!
Keeshonds were first in the ring with a 9.00am start for judge Tim Ball who was awarding CC’s for the second time (the first time was at Windsor in 2017) and he had drawn an entry of 40 dogs entered with 15 absentees.
It was tenth CC with Best of Breed for Sharon & George Rose’s Ch Rossvale Master Of Destiny for Esorkees (Ch Neradmik Handsome Hero x Rossvale Scarlett’s Secret) with the RDCC going to second in open, to Joan Miles and her daughter Sarah’s Ch Neradmik Kiss Chase with Lekkerbek (Ch Neradmik Family Affair with Lekkerbek x Ch Neradmik Miss Holly Berry)
It was a second CC for Tom & Caroline Gate’s Lacetrom Shuna ShCM (Ch Winklestar Hadar x Lacetrom Cruivie) handled as usual by daughter Michelle Wright. It was a first Reserve CC for Natasha Hickson’s Kichigai’s Uptown Girl (Ch Neradmik All About The Boy for Watchkees x Kichigai Lilac Wine) who was also Best Puppy.
Steve and Sheila Brown were a happy couple as not only where there two Rossvales in the group; their Shih Tzu Logan (Rossvale All About The Boy) was in there having won his crowning third CC – the milky bars were definitely on them!!
The same weekend down at the opposite end of the country Vikki Marshall was also having a good day at Poole CS open show as Rhea (Torrikees Made in Heaven at Devonia) went BOB and Utility Group 4 and Ghost (Arabesque at Devonia) Best Puppy with RBOB and Puppy Group 2 under judge Terry Purse and then a third place in the stakes winning £3. Poole also ran a companion show in aid of Dorset Air Ambulance where young Ghost kept up his winning ways by getting Best Puppy in Show under judge Sue Thorne (Castletops).
Don’t forget that entries for our July Open Show (held after the end of judging at Leeds Ch Show) close on Monday 1st July. Car parking costs £3 if pre-booked or £5 on the day. Entry passes are available to download from the Club’s website for dogs attending the open show but who aren’t entered in the Ch show.
