43 Breed Notes – Mid C’ties 2022

Keesies were first in the ring with a 9.00am start at Midland Counties; so for those of us arriving early at the Stafford Show ground it was like being in a Halloween Special. It was pitch black in the car park and the lashing rain and howling gale swirling the leaves around made finding the Margaret Everton Pavilion difficult for the many Keesie exhibitors who didn’t know where it was.

Finnish judge Elina Haapaniemi (who last judged us at the Keeshond Club’s Ch show in 2015) was also judging Shiba’s who followed us in the same ring (as they were also holding their Club show afterwards); so Keesies were ‘rattling around’ the hall until it began to fill up later on in the morning.

Elina had drawn an entry of 58 Keesies, with 10 absentees. There were mainly well filled classes with both Open classes having 7 entered and Limit Bitch 10 girls entered. It’s been quite a while since we’ve had classes like that!

The Dog CC went to Joan Miles and her daughter Sarah’s Ch Neradmik Kiss Chase with Lekkerbek (Ch Neradmik Family Affair with Lekkerbek x Ch Neradmik Miss Holly Berry) with the RDCC going to the winner of Limit, Vikki Marshall’s Arabesque at Devonia (Imp Rus) (Rus Ch Naidjel Iz Mirashela x Rus Ch Felicita Iz Mirashela)

Tracy Lee & Chris Coleman (who did a sterling job all morning as a catalogue information provider!) were absolutely delighted when their Winklestar Aurora at Valindale (Vivids Majestic Prince of Winklestar (IMP USA) x Winklestar Serendipity) won her crowning third CC with Best of Breed. Rita (handled as usual by David) won her 1st CC this summer at Leeds from all-rounder Jeff Horswell and her second came not long after at WKC from Krishna Austin.

Best Puppy went to Jane Ring’s Neradmik Shine on Harvey Moon (Imp Can) (Ikon’s Shine In The Spotlight x Neradmik Norma Jean). By the time judging was done at 12.00pm it was blue skies and sunshine outside and we could see whereabouts we actually were and more importantly where we’d park our vehicles! It wasn’t that far from the main halls, but far enough away for it to feel completely unconnected to the general Ch show and a bit of a trek to get to the stalls and hot food.

Melanie Reed Peck has issued the following: The Keeshond Club have had a request to look into the possibility (KC approval permitted) to consider the possibility of the use of a Ramp in the show ring for our breed for inclusivity of all.
For those of you who do not know how this works, even if a Ramp is in the ring for use, the decision to use it is for the society, judge and exhibitor at each show. To start the process, we will have a post-box with questionnaires at the following shows in 2022– NoEKC Ch. Show, NORDIC, BUBA, LKA and finishing with Keeshond Club January open show 2023.
