45 Breed Notes – November 2023
At the NoEKC’s forthcoming Ch show (19th November, Thorpe Willoughby Village Hall, YO8 9PA) there will be an assortment of Keesie related books and memorabilia for sale on the day. Amongst these are Ray Russell prints, various books on the breed (inc Alice Gatacre) and 2 framed and mounted Jeane Waller prints. A ‘silent auction’* will be held for some of the books and the pictures, so bring plenty of spending money with you!!
Many of these items have been donated to the Club from the estate of past members and the proceeds of the sales will be divided between Keeshond Health Matters and Keeshond Welfare.
You don’t have to have a ‘show dog’ to come along – all Keesie owners are welcome. There will also be lots of freshly made food and home-made cakes to buy during the day from the kitchen too!!
* Bidders write down their name and the amount they are prepared to pay for a particular item and the highest bidder at the end of the show wins the item
Charlotte Craig reports: November the 5th saw the return of the central Scotland Keesie walk. The venue for our 5th walk was Beecraigs Country park in Linlithgow. Having seen the dreadful weather that had battered the UK in the previous weeks, I was quite concerned our walk would be a wash out. This wasn’t the case at all – we had a lovely clear morning with the sun even making an appearance – perfect Keeshond walking weather!
Since the start of the Scottish keesie walks in January 2022 we have continuously broken records in terms of the number of attendees – our November walk wasn’t an exception. We had an incredible 17 dogs turn up with their owners in tow. Returning to the Scottish keesie walks were Talyn & Jura, Ruby, Tara & Mika, Chilli & Pepper, Star and Skyla. Coming for their first keesie walks were Sam & Corrie, Layla & Heidi (who had travelled up from Northumberland for the day!), Dean & Hunter and rescue keesie Willow who is now living with Star!
Heads certainly turned with 17 fluffy Keesies running around the park. The walk set off at around 10.45 from the car park, completing a circuit of the Loch then returning up through the woodlands before finishing back at the visitor centre for some well-deserved lunch and a drink!
All dogs were impeccably behaved, especially the 4 puppies that joined us for this walk (Hunter, Dean, Heidi & Corrie). Thank you to all who joined us for the final walk of 2023!
