49/50 Breed Notes – BUBA & LKA 2022

It was a bright and early start for Keesies at BUBA as we were first in the ring with a 9.30am start for judge Janet Kay, who was awarding CC’s in the breed for the first time. Janet had drawn one of the largest entries this year apart from the club shows with an entry of 50 dogs, just 6 absentees and only the Special Beginners classes had no entries. It was all over by 12.00pm which gave everyone time to do some shopping and still get home during daylight.

Winning the DCC with Best of Breed from the Veteran class was Natasha Hickson’s Ch Kichigai’s Only The Lonley (Bert von Ricara (imp Den) x Kichigai Special Edition) with the RDCC going to the open class winner,, Sue Lindsay’s Mezanda Merry Starshower (AI) (Dungens Nice Guy x Mezanda Mai Starshine)
It was a 4th CC for Tracy, Chris and the rest of the Matthews’ family’s newly crowned Ch Winklestar Aurora at Valindale (Vivids Majestic Prince of Winklestar (IMP USA) x Winklestar Serendipity) and the RBCC went to the second in open, Sue Lindsay’s Ch Cosmic Dream’s Damn You Look Good for Mezanda (Imp Nor) JW (Dungens Never Ending Dream x Dungens Kosmic Love)
Best Puppy was Andy & Jean Fitches young Italian import at her first UK Ch show Sofia Loren Della Ginevrina (Imp It) (Carpe Diem Della Ginevrina x You Are My Everything Della Ginevrina)

It was another bright and freezing start the following weekend for LKA as Keesies were first in the ring again, this time with a 9.00am start for judge Alison Passmore (Torrikees) who had last judged us at Crufts in 2019. Alison had drawn an entry of 41 dogs, but with no entries in Post Graduate Dog, both the Good Citizen classes and Veteran Bitch and 17 absentees, judging was all over by 10.45am.

Winning his crowning third CC with Best of Breed was Debbie Hopkins’ Int Ch Quasars Brilliant Light Van Het Earlskamp Serenaubach (Am Ch Trumpet’s It’s Good To Be King (Imp USA) x Bel Ch Joyfull van het Earlskamp) handled as usual by Simon Oakley. He won his 1st CC this year at Border Union from Peter Young and his second quickly followed at Windsor from David Matthews. The RDCC went to winner of the Veteran class Natasha Hickson’s Ch Kichigai’s Only The Lonley (Bert von Ricara (imp Den) x Kichigai Special Edition)

It was a first big green card for Mark Redler’s Keitakees You Are My World (Ch Neradmik Family Affair with Lekkerbek x Byquy Kinky Boots at Keitakees) from the Junior class and the awards stayed down the line as the RBCC with Best Puppy went to Andy & Jean Fitches young Italian import Sofia Loren Della Ginevrina (Imp It) (Carpe Diem Della Ginevrina x You Are My Everything Della Ginevrina)

By now all NoEKC members should have received their Club envelope containing the Autumn edition of Walkee Talkees, Member Information booklet and an end of year letter of ‘Club stuff’. Due to postal strikes etc I know that some people have only just rec’d theirs this week, but if yours still hasn’t popped through your letter box, please get in touch with Assistant Secretary Allison Stephenson for a replacement.
