51& 52 Breed Notes – December 2023

My last set of notes for 2023, so here’s a quick review of the year.

Show entries haven’t really improved and have been consistently low throughout the year; as have the number of puppies born this year. Doom & Gloom just about sums up this year, being better than last year, but that couldn’t really have been much worse – more of that in my next notes.

Seven Keesies won their crowns this year. Bath was a lucky show for both David Peck’s Kwajongen He’s A Dandy and from Veteran, Sue & Alan Hill’s Whizzkees Ebony Silver for Plymkees – who had an incredible long 8 year wait for her 3rd CC. Keitakees You Are My World was a first Ch (and home bred) for Mark Redler at Windsor and Jean Sharp Bale’s Neradmik Pandora’s Box quickly won her 3rd at Paignton. Darlington saw George and Sharon Rose’s Rossvale Endeavour to Esorkees get crowned and it was South Wales for Mel Harris’ Amikirs Lover Boy for Watchkees. At BUBA & almost the end of the year, after a 4 year wait Nicola Kerr’s Caraspitz Good Luck Charm won her crown from Veteran and then at LKA, the last show of the year was Gill Brunt’s Divnyi Drug Dar.

Zoom meetings and virtual committee meetings are now the norm. OK they aren’t the same as actually meeting up for a chat; but from a financial point of view, they’re a no brainer as people don’t have to spend the time (& fuel) driving to the venue and the clubs don’t have to pay room hire. The Club Rules have been duly amended to give the option of holding AGMs virtually; so, the NoEKC’s 2024 AGM will be held via Zoom, at a time and date to be confirmed.

Our February Open Show has had to be moved again at the last minute due to Thorpe Willoughby’s panto and is being held again at Netherton Village Hall (WF4 4LT) on Sunday 18th February. The schedule (and with on-line entries only) is available via Cavalier Impressions.

We have now passed the Solstice; days are (hopefully) starting to gradually get longer and Trophy Steward Gill Brunt would like all your claims for both clubs’ annual trophies by the 10th January 2024. You should have received by now your winter edition of Walkee Talkees, plus all the NoEKC annual ‘club stuff’ which was sent out just after the Club’s Ch show. Included was all the information you need on how to pay your subs electronically (Joint membership is £13 and Single £9) which are due on the 1st January 2024. Due to continuing postal delays, please send things electronically where-ever possible.
