52 Breed Notes – December 2021

My last notes for 2021 and it’s certainly been a different year for most, if not all of us. With lockdown meaning no shows including Crufts for the first six months, the shows burst onto the scene together. With a Ch show every weekend (two Ch shows on a day with the Club Ch shows) most of the season was crammed into a four month ‘summer’ period. The financial layout seems to have been too much for some and entries have been consistently low throughout. Whether entries will ever return to past levels, that will remain to be seen.

Three Keesies won their crown, Jean sharp Bale’s Neradmik Berry’s Swansong, Cheri & Trevor Rogers’ Aust Can Am Ch Keez Kause For Koncern and Krishna Austin’s Chotahkees Don’t Stop Me Now and there are a few Keesies waiting in the wings who are sitting on 2 CC’s.

We also got used to holding Zoom meetings as both clubs held virtual AGMs. These turned out to be better attended than physical ones and virtual committee meetings are now the norm. OK they aren’t the same as actually meeting up for a chat; but from a financial point of view they’re a no brainer; as people don’t have to spend the time (& fuel) driving to the venue and the club’s don’t have to fork out the hall hire.

We are past the Solstice; days are starting to gradually get longer, the shows are over with plans are being made for next year and Trophy Steward Gill Brunt would like all your claims for the Club’s annual trophies by the 8th January 2022. Full details of how to claim & a claims form can be downloaded from the Club’s website.

You should have received by now your winter edition of Walkee Talkees, plus all the NoEKC annual ‘club stuff’ which was sent out just before Christmas. Included was all the information you needs on how to pay your subs electronically; Joint membership is £13 and Single £9 which are due on the 1st January 2022.

All that remains now is for me to wish you and all your four legged friends a Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year.
