It was a great honour to be asked to judge the special classes at the North of England Keeshond Open show. I would like to thank my stewards for the efficient running of my ring and a special thank you to all exhibitors who entered and braved the torrential rain, and who took my class placements very sportingly.
Class A Special Junior Dog or Bitch. 7 entered 1 WD 1st Mr & Mrs CR & GA Brunt Almaznyistochnik Vologodskie Kruzheva (Imp) 13 month old dark bitch. Loved her wedged head and expression good depth to muzzle with black lips and correct dentition. Ivy ears set well and used to full advantage. Dark almond eye with correct markings. Square and stylish, oozing in coat, with a good ruff, tail set high and carried well over with a good breed tip. Well angled fore and aft giving her the tools for her clean and brisk gait. 2ndMr C & Miss NL Hickson Kichigai’s Uptown Girl. Loved the shortness of this bitch, full of breed type and quality, holding her own against the older dogs in this junior class at just 8 months. Stunning markings, eye catching standing very square. Super head and expression with a lovely dark almond eye, ivy shaped ears set and used to full advantage, arched neck into a wonderful front assembly. Fore legs well boned sat on good cat feet. Well ribbed back. Powerful strong rear with good trousers. She came alive when on the move with her brisk, clean movement. One to watch. 3rd D & E Allwright, Shelderon Fun and Frolics. A very naughty 10 month old bitch. Feminine in head, dark almond shaped eye with good facial markings, wedge shaped head balanced, dark with a nice flat skull, correct scissor bite and black lips. Short and compact, body with good legs sat on tight cat feet. Tail set and carried well over her back, in good coat, not quite got the hang of showing, but with a little more schooling, has the potential. Res A McCoy, Rossvale Hidden Agenda at Pawwarzstarz (NAF). VHC W McKean, Kichigai It Takes Two
Class B Special Post Graduate Dog or Bitch 1 entered 0 absent 1st Miss S K Lush Ednaaron Moon Light. At nearly 2 years old this boy stood a picture. Balanced in head with nice stop, and good depth of muzzle, I would like his ear carriage to be set a little higher which would complete the picture. Arched neck, sporting a profuse ruff. Straight front legs, enough bone sat on good cat feet. Correct depth of brisket and is well ribbed back. Tail set high carried well over his back. Free side gait, but didn’t quite track up behind.
Class C Special Open Dog or Bitch 5 entries 0 absent 1st Mr & Mrs M Fusco Amikirs Lord of the Bubbles. 4 year old quality dog, gorgeous dark head and expression, dark almond eye, good width to muzzle, correct dentition, black tight lips. Ears set well and used to full advantage and of the correct shape. Clean in neck, correct front assembly, good bone and straight front legs sat on tight cat feet. Well ribbed back, strong loin to a well muscled rear, hocks straight. Tail set and carried well over his back with black tip. Short and balanced all through. A very sound moving dog both fore and aft and tracked up well. Show casing his movement on his side gait. A lot to like on this mature boy. 2nd Mr & Mrs TN & Miss CM Gate Lacetrom Shuna ShCM 3 year old bitch, her stand out feature was her free brisk movement. Clean in head forming a good triangle, dark almond eye, ears correct both in size and shape and used to full advantage. Good crest to neck, flowing into well set and lay of shoulders. Straight front legs sat on good cat feet. Strong topline with well muscled loin. Powerful well angulated rear. Tail set high and carried well over her back. Loved her rear and trousers. In good coat. 3rd Mr & Mrs CR & GA Brunt Zandvoort Mr Bond 3 year old dog, very compact and well put together. Dark head, balanced with correct ear placement. Almond eyes, dark muzzle, correct dentition and lip colour. Arched neck into good lay of shoulder. Straight front legs, tight cat feet, Brisket deep and well ribbed back. Topline strong. Tail set high and carried well over back. Well angulated rear which he used to brisk fully move around the ring. In good coat. Res Wendy McKean Kichigai This Girl is Mine at Yawren.
