Firstly, a thank you to the Breed Club for their kind invitation and the gift on the day, it is always a lovely compliment to be invited to judge at a club event. We were allocated a decent sized ring by Darlington committee and my two Stewards were quietly efficient and kept the ring running nice and smoothly.
Whilst I do not really like generalised comments about the exhibits I feel that I should note here that I considered a high proportion of the entry to be rather small, having checked what I wrote when I last judged this breed I pointed out they were heading in that direction – now it seems many have arrived.
Having said the above, it was predominantly the older ones that were really small so maybe as time passes they will come back to proper size. I was impressed with some of the younger stock so I hope these will help. The location clearly has an effect upon where the exhibitors come from and it could be these exhibits were not generally typical but I can only comment on what I judged.
I first awarded CC’s to the breed in 2001 and had followed the kennels local to me for many years prior to that and I am sure the breed did not move wide in front and close behind then. I wonder what has happened to make the majority move like this today? How that can be put right I have no idea but I do hope that it will be thought about by breeders from now on.
I had to fill in the report form for the RKC but did not note that many were somewhat over coated as in my view it was not causing any of them a problem and I know breed people dislike the stats that emerge from those reports.

MPD 1 Murray FLATMEER FLAUSCHIG. Exactly seven months and well grown. Head is nice for his age and he will certainly mature some more. Nice ears and dark eyes. Well boned with good feet. Well constructed shoulders and good spring and depth of ribbing. Nicely set on tail. Has already learnt what to do and moved out and back steadily.
PD 1 Bennett ZANDVOORT MR SUNSHINE It was his birthday the following day so quite mature already. Good head with decent width of skull and well defined stop. Neatest of ears. Pleasing spring of rib but would benefit from a tad more angulation of shoulders. Neat feet with good bone and moved nicely. Best Puppy D.
JD 1. Rose AMIKIRS UNCLE FESTER WITH ESORKEES Hugely coated 10 months puppy whose jacket somewhat detracts from his outline. Nicely marked. Good legs and feet, correct level topline and nice double curled tail well held. Correct tight bite, neat ears and lovely dark eyes. On the move on the day he was better forwards than going away.
YD 1. Miles, Dean, Cullen & Cullen CH SKYLINE’S OUTLANDER AT LEKKERBEK Well balanced exhibit with good head proportions muzzle to skull and correct wedge shape to muzzle. Nicely set ears but I would prefer a nicer eye shape. His well marked coat was in good condition.
He stands on good legs and feet and is well boned. Well sprung in ribbing but I thought he would benefit from more body weight. On the move he was somewhat wider in front than the rear but his action is very typical.
PG. 1. Barton NERADMIK PRINCE CHARMING OF KYROSS A smaller exhibit. His head markings are very distinct and his skull to muzzle ratio is correct. Small, well set, really triangular ears but another with slightly bold eyes. Nicely boned and has the correct feet. Excellent ribbing and topline and well set on tail with double curl. Moved nicely but did tend to pull.
LD. 1. Abs.
OD. 6. 1 abs 1 w/d 1. Brunt CH DIVNYI DRUG DAR Super balance and a lovely head with good markings, expressive eyes and nicely set ears. Excellent neck, good width and shoulder construction at the front end, well ribbed and short coupled in body. Well carried tail with good curl. Pleasing for bone in legs and good feet and moved really well tho’ also with the tendency to be wider at the front than the rear which seemed to be a recurring theme. Already titled and I was happy to add another CC to his total. 2. Ring CH NERADMIK SHINE ON HARVEY MOON Slightly smaller than the winner but very similar in type. He has a good head and nice markings. Could perhaps have just a bit more width right through and this showed in particular in his stance at the rear. Pleasing weight of bone in his good legs and tight feet. Excellent tail carriage and curl. 3. Burnett TORRIKEES WE WILL ROCK YOU. Bigger and heavier all through. Reasonably well proportioned. Carrying a very heavy coat. I would have liked more neck on a male of this size. Not moving too well today.
VD 3 1 Murray FLATMEER FLIGHTBERRY. Headed this line up of three 7 year olds. Of good size and has nice markings to his head and in his full jacket. Pleasing neck and topline, well curled tail. Good legs and feet and one of the best movers, coming and going at a decent width. 2. Craig FLATMEER FLORISEL Litter brother to winner, well coated and has a good head with clear markings. Nicely balanced outline, good curl to his tail and neat legs and feet. Persisted in not using his ears which was not helped by their set. 3. ROSE CH ROSSVALE ENDEAVOUR TO ESORKEES Good for shape and has a nice head type with excellent eyes and ears. Thought him almost too well bodied and he seems to have much more rear angulation than most. He pulled all the way.
SP VINTAGE D 2 1. Hickson CH KICHIGAL’S ONLY THE LONELY At 10 years old this males quality is not diminished, I liked him last time I judged and still do. Very well balanced and in good coat of nice colour. Lovely head with all features in balance with one another. Good for neck, topline and tail. Well made through the body, in excellent condition and is very true on the move. Res CC and Best Veteran 2. Miles, Cullen & Brown CH ROSSVALE’S LEGACY FOR LEKKERBEK Larger than winner and just slightly paler in colour though acceptable. Pleasing head, good for neck, slightly long in the body. He is losing condition slightly but at twelve he is very good indeed. Good on the move.

Not Bred by 2. 1abs. 1. CH AMIKIRS LOVER BOY FOR WATCHKEES Good sized, well balanced five year old. Pleasing head with correct pencil marking and neat ears. Well boned and standing on good feet. Nice length and depth to ribcage and well carried tail. Super jacket of correct colour and moved rather well. GdCit 0

MPB 3 1. Ring NERADMIK TINSELTOWN AT BALEISSA Well presented, fully coated 8 month old with a lovely head with good wedge, skull width and small nicely set ears. Nice neck, front and ribbing, Good tail with the desired double curl. Really well balanced with 50%leg to 50% body and moved well and steadily. Impressive, Res CC & Best Puppy. 2, Passmore TORRIKEES YOU WEAR IT WELL As yet not as well developed as the winner which showed particularly on the move. Lovely head carried on a good neck. Needs to fill through the body and improve in front. Good tail. Lovely coat colour. 3. Craig FLATMEER FLEUR’S DELAY. Very much the baby at just 7 months and has some developing to do, nice quality puppy. Excellent colour and markings. Nice ribbing. Her head will fill and at present is all in proportion so should finish satisfactorily.
PB 1 Abs.
JB 1 Gregory AMIKIRS KARRIE Eleven month old which is good for size. She appears to have to tighten up all around and fill her frame which has probably come with a growth spurt. Lovely in head with nice eyes and ears. Good tail. Pleasing well boned legs and tight feet. Certainly needs to settle on the move.

LB 2 Brunt ZANDVOORT GRACE’S SECRET So balanced with good leg length and lovely neck supporting a super head with enough stop, lovely expressive eyes and well set ears. Standing on really nice legs and feet with a great ribcage of depth and length. Level topline and high set tail. Very good on the move in both directions. Turns out to be sired by my CC dog and I am sure will go far. CC & BIS. 2. Marfleet FLATMEER FLEUR’S KRYSTAL Jacket of good colour with nice clear markings. Pleasing in head and nicely made but she is somewhat short on the leg which puts her out of balance. Nice tight feet and ok on the move but footfall should have some more width.
OB 5 3abs. 1. Brunt GOLDGIN CHANEL Visually this one had the better balance and stood foursquare. Good coat and markings, Pleasing in head with nice reach of neck, just a tad long in body, carries her tail well. Well boned legs and good feet. 2. Ring CH NERADMIK TANTRAMS ‘N TIARAS So heavily coated it hides her legs and makes her look low to ground. Nice in the head. Well ribbed up though standing a bit long and somewhat loose on the move.

SP VINTAGE B 5 2abs 1. Gregory CH AMIKIRS BUBBLELICIOUS Another with a really heavy coat though she does look reasonably well balanced. Very good head properties, excellent ribbing and short coupled. Good tailset and curl. At near to 13 she moved out well and was certainly the soundest here. Best Veteran B 2. McKean CH KICHIGAI THIS GIRL IS MINE AT YAWREN Also really heavily coated and just showing her ten years in her pasterns, Good head type with a good mouth. Shapely body and good curl to her tail. Not moving quite as well as the winner. 3. Marfleet FLATMEER FLEURETTE Bigger overall and just a bit longer in shape than those above. Still very alert and willing to show. In good condition.
Bred by Exhib 3. 1. Brunt ZANDVOORT MOONLIGHT One of the best constructed fronts here and is well balanced with good leg length. Pleasing in head type and with a really good ribcage of depth & length (like her half sister) Not perfect on the move but her overall quality won through. 2. Marfleet FLATMEER FLUER DILLY Another with excellent shoulders, well boned and super feet. Maybe just a tad longer in body than some. Particularly good front movement. 3. Gregory CH AMIKIRS LOVEALICIOUS A small one with a big coat and not very much length to her legs. Had a tendency to stand long though she does not feel it. Moved quite well.
Not Bred by Exhib 2 McKean CH KICHIGAI IT TAKES TWO AT YAWREN Medium sized and with a heavy coat of good colour. Good head with nice mouth, correct eyes and well set ears,. Nice legs and feet. Well sprung ribbing and nicely curled tail. Pleasing on the move. 2. Marfleet BLUME VOM TAUBENGARTEN Bigger and of differing type. Darker coloured coat with less undercoat so thus lying flatter than most. Good for front construction, not too well sprung in ribbing. Somewhat longer and narrower in skull and thus not such a pronounced wedge. Dark eyes and well set ears.
Gd Cit B. 1. Marfleet FLATMEER FLUERTING Lovely well defined markings. Sweet head and expression. Good legs and feet. Clearly likes her food and thus carries really good body. Nice outline and good on the move in both directions.
