49 Breed Notes – BUBA 2025

It was a long day at BUBA on Saturday, as Keesies were first in the ring with a 9.30am start for judge Sally Pointon who was awarding CC’s in the breed for the first time. She had drawn an entry of 39 dogs with 5 absentees and all the classes were filled apart from both Special Beginners classes.

Winning the DCC with Best of Breed was Gill Brunt’s Ch Divnyi Drug Dar (imp Russ) (Russ Ch Cinerus Artic Prince of Star x Russ Ch Divnyi Drug Gusja Lebed) and it was a first RDCC for his son, Alison Bennett’s Zandvoort Mr Sunshine (Ch Divnyi Drug Dar (Imp Rus) x Almaznyi Istochnik Tropicheskaya Noch (Imp Rus)) winner of Junior.

Gill continued her winning streak as her Zandvoort Moonlight (Ch Divnyi Drug Dar (Imp Rus) x Almaznyi Istochnik Vologodskie Kruzheva) won her crowning third CC from Limit. ‘Naughty Rosie’ won her 1st CC this year at Windsor from Colin Barton and her second followed at Darlington from Tim Ball.

The RBCC went to the winner of Veteran Jane Saunders’ Liefkees Adina (Ch Wund R Y Workin For A Livin at Szaryk (imp USA) x Liefkees Angelika) and it was a first Best Puppy for Sue & Alan Hill’s Bargeway Dark Knight at Plymkees (Torrikees Purple Rein x Ch Art Pride Bomb Explosive Beauty (imp Rus))

After a short break, it was the turn of the Keeshond Club’s Open Show judging, which started at 12.25pm with the Special Awards Classes. Jenny Shorer-Wheeler was the judge and winner of Special Yearling Dog or Bitch was Alison Passmore’s Torrikees You Wear It Well, Special Limit Dog or Bitch was Comperat & Truelove’s Bargeway Boomerang JW and Joan Miles was the winner of Special Open Dog or Bitch with Ch Skyline’s Outlander at Lekkerbek (Imp USA)

The judge for the Open Show was Vikki Marshall (Devonia) who had drawn an entry of with 17 absentees. There were no entries in Puppy, Yearling and Novice Dog or Minor Puppy and Junior Bitch and it was all over by 3.15pm.

Best Dog with Best in Show was the winner of Limit, Comperat & Truelove’s Bargeway Boomerang (Quest’ Eastkees Del Monte Dragnone (imp Ita) x Bargeway With Grace) with Reserve Best Dog and Reserve Best in Show going to Joan Miles, daughter Sarah Dean and the Cullen’s Ch Skyline’s Outlander at Lekkerbek (imp USA)(Am Ch Windrift’s Dirty Hairy x Am Ch Skyline’s Mine Eyes Have Seen)

Best Bitch was Debbie Hopkins’ Serenaubach Andromeda (Elegant Sharm Galantnyi Kavaler x Serenaubach Auroras Dance) handled by Simon Oakley, with Reserve Best Bitch going to second in Open, Gate’s Ch Winklestar Alsephina via Lacetrom (Vivids Majestic Prince of Winklestar (imp USA) x Winklestar Serendipity) handled by Michelle Wright

This Saturday it’s all back to Stafford for the last Ch show of the year – LKA. Keesies are first in Ring 15 in the Main Hall with another early start of 9.00am for judge Keith Nathan who has drawn an entry of 38 dogs.

Some sad news that Sheila Esland (Trixkees) died last week after a shortish illness. Although not seen ringside for quite a while until earlier this year when she briefly showed her new puppy, Katie; Sheila with her late husband Peter, were both long standing supporters of the North of England Keeshond Club, with Sheila serving on the committee for several years during the late 1980s & early 1990s.
