24 Breed Notes – Sth C’ties & 3 C’ties 2026

The Ch show season is in full swing with virtually one held every weekend now until the end of September and it’s not easy remembering which one is coming next!

It was another warm sunny day at Southern Counties where Keesies were first in the ring with a 9.30am start for Finnish judge Kimmo Mustonen who was awarding CC’s in the breed for the first time. He had drawn an entry of 35 Keesies with 4 absentees and all the classes were filled apart from Special Beginners.

The DCC with Best Veteran and Best of Breed was Natasha Hickson’s Ch Only The Lonley VW ShCex (Bert von Ricara (imp Den) x Kichigai Special Edition) and it was another RDCC with Best Puppy for Mel Harris & Jean Sharp-Bale’s Neradmik Shooting Star (Ch Aragorn Elessar Elfiyskiy Berill x Ch Neradmik Pandora’s Box)

BCC was Val Tew’s Ch Bargeway Crystal Clear (Torrikees Purple Rein x Ch Art Pride Bomb Explosive Beauty (imp Russ)) with the RBCC going to Tyra Church’s Tykees We Go Solo (Shelderon Stemmig Sage with Tykees x Leazehond Amber Steppes for Tykees) from Limit and handled by her daughter Elle.

Four days later it was the turn of Three Counties, where Keesies don’t have CC’s on offer, and we were second in the ring after 37 Sammies. Our judge was Linda Morton, who had drawn an entry of 13 dogs with almost half the entry (6) being absent and no puppies entered – a sad sign of the times.

Best Dog with Best of Breed and Best Veteran was Gill Brunt’s Ch Divnyi Drug Dar (imp Russ) (Russ Ch Cinerus Artic Prince of Star x Russ Ch Divnyi Drug Gusja Lebed) and Reserve Best Dog was Natasha Hickson’s Ch Only The Lonley VW ShCex (Bert von Ricara (imp Den) x Kichigai Special Edition)

Best Bitch was Gill Brunt’s Ch Zandvoort Grace’s Secret (Ch Divnyi Drug Dar (imp Russ) x Almaznyi Istochnik Tropicheskaya Noch (imp Russ)) and Reserve Best Bitch went to the second in Open, Vikki & Sean Marshall’s Devonia Black Pearl (Arabesque at Devonia (Imp Russ) x Torrikees Made In Heaven at Devonia)

The schedule for the Keeshond Club’s Ch Show on Saturday, 5 September (held in partnership with City of Birmingham) is now available on Have a Dog Day. The judge for the Club show is Angelika Rubens (von Haus Rubens) from Germany.
