Thank you to BUBA Council for this invitation to judge Keeshonds. They were my first breed and they hold a special place of affection in my heart. Thank you also to the to the two excellent stewards who kept the ring flowing so smoothly. The biggest thanks must go to the exhibitors who braved Storm Darrah to be at the show.
There was quite a variation in sizes and some were rather short in leg / long in back. Heads and coats were good. Two exhibits lost out on placings because they paced, and one crabbed. Quite a few made life difficult for their handlers, probably excited by the storm raging outside.
I was very pleased with my winners.
Puppy Dog Entries: 2 Absentees: 1 1ST 647 – Voila Mon Vadim Damour for Tykees (Imp Fra) (Miss T A Church) – A 7 month old boy with very attractive facial markings including well defined spectacles and eyebrows, head of correct proportions, dark muzzle with good bite, dark attentive eyes, good set to ivy shaped ears, beautiful coat with well furnished tail carried high over the back, moved well.
Junior Dog Entries: 3 Absentees: 0 1ST 665 – Skyline’s Outlander at Lekkerbek (Imp Usa) (Mrs J A & Miss S A & Mrs S & Dr K Miles & Dean & Cullen & Cullen) – Compact and square, good definition to shading of coat with grey ruff and black tipped guard hairs, good lay of shoulder and depth to chest, ribs well spring and carried well back to nice tuck-up of loin. Well presented. Moved true. 2ND 648 – Bargeway Boomerang (Mr Jm & Miss C Comperat & Truelove) – A very masculine young dog, an all-male expression in commanding dark eyes, strong head, nicely arched neck well set on good lay of shoulder, good muscle tone, moved well. Please to award him BSB
Open Dog A lovely class. Entries: 7 Absentees: 1 1ST 660 – Arabesque at Devonia (Imp Rus) (Mrs V & Mr S Marshall) – Well presented in full coat with excellent definition to shading from luxurious grey ruff through to beautiful saddle of dark guard hairs. Correct wedge shaped head, good placement of ears, dark eyes and well defined spectacles, level back, correct set to gorgeous plume of tail, good deep chest with brisket to elbow, decent angulation front and rear with good alignment of hocks, tight cat feet, would prefer him to be a smidgen taller, moved well with brisk pace. 2ND 669 – Ch Neradmik Shine On Harvey Moon (Mrs Je Ring) – Balanced and compact this young dog stood four square in silhouette, luxuriously abundant coat with good shading, bright alert expression, excellent construction with shoulders well sloped, compact body with back of correct length, good tailset, just preferred the movement of 1st today. Could change places on another day.
Veteran Dog Entries: 1 Absentees: 0 1ST 655 – Ch Kichigai’s Only The Lonley (Mr C & Miss N L Hickson) – Very attractive dog in fabulous condition, alert expression, dark almond shaped eyes, good head and ear set, compact construction with excellent topline, good lay of shoulder, plenty of heart and lung room in deep chest, hind legs straight when viewed from the rear, stood firm on tight cat feet, lovely coat and shading, lovely plume of tail carried correctly over the back, at 9 years old he was still able to trounce the rest on movement, brisk, clean, purposeful and with panache. Could not deny him DCC, BVIB and BOB

Puppy Bitch Entries: 2 Absentees: 0 1ST 677 – Bargeway Crystal Clear (Mrs V Tew) – Quite stunning young girl who impressed with perfectly square silhouette in the stand and assured confidence on the move. Gorgeous wedge-shaped head, dark muzzle, scissor bite, darkest of expressive eyes complete with well-defined spectacles and eyebrows, ears of correct shape size and placement, nicely arched neck well set on well-sloped shoulder, level back of correct length to good tail-set with double curl of black tipped tail carried high over the back, forelegs straight with good bone, compact body with ribs well sprung, good rear angulation, parallel when viewed from the rear and slight inclination from the hocks when viewed from the side, tight feet. Nothing not to like about this young bitch. Built this well she should move well, and she did not disappoint. Brisk, true, purposeful and confident. BP & RBCC 2ND 667 – Eastkees Amber Moon (Mrs S Pattison) – 10 month old in lovely coat with good definition of shading, beautiful plume of tail carried high over the back, dark muzzle, dark eyes with alert expression, would prefer a slightly longer leg, exuberant and bouncy on the move, just as a puppy should be.
Junior Bitch Entries: 2 Absentees: 1 1ST 644 – Zandvoort Moonlight (Mrs G A Brunt) –Beautifully presented youngster, very pretty with excellent shading of harsh off-standing coat, well feathered forelegs and profuse trousers, lovely plume of tail, attractive expression good head and ear-set, compact, I loved her square silhouette, stood well on tight feet, very active today, just finished her first season and full of zing, first attempt at movement wasn’t good as she was fighting the lead, but once she settled she moved very well. Definitely one to watch once she settles.
Post Graduate Bitch Entries: 3 Absentees: 0 1ST 661 – Devonia’s Hakuna Matata JW (Mrs V & Mr S Marshall) – Pretty girl full of personality, very attractive markings on head and coat, gorgeous plume of well-set tail, good spring of rib and depth of brisket, stands well but would prefer tighter rear feet, moved OK but would like to see her when more settled. 2ND 668 – Eastkees Lilly of The Valley (Mrs S Pattison) – Only 13 months old, beautiful head, elegant arch of neck, compact construction with level back and excellent angulation front and rear, cat feet, very lively today she pranced with excitement on the move but once she settled down she moved well.
Limit Bitch Entries: 5 Absentees: 3 1ST 659 – Flatmeer Fleur’s Krystal (A Marfleet) – At 19 months old full of vigour and determination, enjoying herself and demanding to be noticed, lovely plume of tail never stopped wagging, excellent head shape and ear-set, dark very attractive decorations to face, lovely dark intelligent eyes, excellent coat with very pleasing shades of purest grey and black, good front and rear angulation, moved well once settled, considered for top honours. Should have a bright future. 2ND 657 – Tykees Full of Chaos (Mrs S Johnston) – Compact and beautifully proportioned 3 year old, I loved the length of back in relation to length of leg, tight feet, lovely face framed by magnificent ruff, excellent ear shape and set, movement brisk and sharp, very well handled.
Open Bitch Entries: 5 Absentees: 3 1ST 674 – Neradmik Pandora’s Box (Mrs J Sharp-Bale) – Well constructed with good depth of chest and spring of rib carried back to nice tuck-up of short loin, excellent head and ear-set, dark eyes with exquisite spectacles, lovely coat with excellent shading, not overdone in any way, very attentive to owner, good front angulation but could throw her rear out if left peering up at owner, once stood correctly she displayed excellent attributes, compact and square, movement was good once the handler allowed her to flow at her naturally clean and brisk pace, true out and back, presented in beautiful condition she was balanced and without exaggeration, everything in moderation. Pleased to award her the BCC 2ND 656 – Serenaubach Andromeda (Mrs D Hopkins) – Well presented in glorious coat with beautiful ruff and plume of tail, lovey feathering on front legs and trousers, good angulation front and rear but would have preferred a slightly longer leg. Moved well by good handler.
Veteran Bitch. An evenly matched class. Entries: 2 Absentees: 0 1ST 662 – Torrikees Made in Heaven at Devonia VW (Mrs V & Mr S Marshall) – An 8 year old in full luxuriant coat, good foxy head with excellent set to Ivy ears, pretty face with dark eyes and well defined spectacles, black muzzle showing a little grey commensurate with her age, magnificent ruff, good shading to coat, a little unsettled on the move but once settled she moved well. 2ND 671 – Can Gr Ch/am Ch Cedarhills-Shamrock Foreign Exchange at Keez (Imp Can) (Mr T & Mrs C Rogers) – this was a very evenly matched class and the winners could easily change places on another day. This well presented 8 year old was of excellent constriction, nice size, level back, good angulation front and rear, tight feet, lovely coat with excellent shading and dark saddle. A little intermittent on the move.
