I was closely connected with this breed in my younger days. My wife and I made up two champions back in Norway before we moved to the UK. I was looking for a dog with a short compact body and a confident carriage. I wanted a fox-like head, small pointed ears and a large ruff. The dogs should also be sturdy, have well sprung ribs and good depth of brisket. I am pleased to say that most of my winner fitted the description above, but too many were too low on their legs and long in loin. I want to thank the society for inviting me and the exhibitors for showing their beloved dogs under me.
VD/B 1 Wilkes & Clarke’s Helkeesen Surfin At Dakaraikees. Grandfather of excellent type. Upstanding, moved very well. 2 Evans’ Torrikees American Affair. Good condition for age, but a bit low on his legs. Moves well around but could be better in front.
PD 1 Lush’s Ednaaron Moonlight. Dog of quite a nice type, but slightly long in loin. Well constructed, but could be better in front. Moves well around the ring. BP.
JD 1 Janssen’s Quazars Brilliant Light Van Het Earlskamp. Dog of excellent type and of high class. Lovely head, well-constructed, but I would like a bit more neck.Moves very well. 2 Evans’ Amikirs Rider Of The Storm At Canterwey. Dog of good type with quite a nice head. Well angulated, but would like better spring of ribs, a bit narrow in front. Moves well. 3 Potts’ Sheldron Spooksel Sterren.
PGD 1 Brunt’s Zandvoort Mr Bond. Beautiful dog of high class. Excellent head. Well constructed with excellent neck and presence. Moves and stands very well. 2 Fusco’s Amikirs Lord Of The Bubbles. Quite a nice dog with a good head. Good spring of ribs, but too straight in front and long in loin. Excellent quarters, moves well.
LD 1 Matthews & Ransley’s Szaryk Dutch Bargemaster With Valindale. Here was the man of the day. This gentleman was full of charm and personality. He had a good head and was very well put together. He stood and moved like a prince and I loved every bit of him. A real cracker. CC & BOB. 2 Brunt’s Zandvoort Purrsonal Life (AI). Similar to the winner in type, but he could be better developed in front. Good quarters, moved well around, but too narrow in front. 3 Davies’ Neradmik Over The Rainbow To Kyross.
OD 1 Hickson’s Kichigai’s Only The Lonley. Top quality dog with a good head. He gives an excellent picture of a Keeshond and is well angulated. Good body, but turns feet out a bit. Moves very well. RCC. 2 Atkinson’s Ch Winklestar Hadar. Another top class dog with a great outline. Moved well, but front could be better. 3 Miles & Dean’s Neradmik Kiss Chase With Lekkerbek. b (3) 1 Palmer’s Shelderon Super Steller. Beautiful bitch of excellent type. Nice outline, well angulated. Moved well. 2 Wilkes, Clarke & Peck’s Dakaraikees Silver Charm. Nice bitch with an excellent neck. Good head and body, but a bit long in loin. Moved well. 3 Brunt’s Zandvoort Ursula Andress.
LB 1 Atkinson’s Winklestar Anthe With Valindale. This bitch was all for me. I liked her outline and she was short and compact. Lovely head and expression. Well angulated both ends. It was pleasing to see her move with grace and determination. A real showgirl. CC & BOS.
OB 1 Gregory’s Ch Amikirs Fabulicious Time JW. Quality bitch of high class. Good head and neck, She is sound and well developed in body. She moved well and pushed Anthe for the CC, but in th end I preferred the compactness of my limit winner. RCC. 2 Janssen’s Ch Osiris Shining Bright Van Het Earlskamp. Similar to the winner in type and quality, but I preferred the front of the winner. 3 White’s Neradmik Dear Darling Of Whitchakees.
