The Keeshond Club Open Show 23 October 2021
Thank you to the Committee for inviting me to judge this Breed Open. Thank you too, to the Club for their excellent hospitality, but most of all, thank you to the exhibitors who allowed me the great privilege of going over their precious dogs. It was much appreciated.
Class 1. MPD (2,1 abs) 1 Davies’ Neradamik Prince Charming of Kyross. Beautiful 6 month puppy appeared absolutely thrilled to be in the ring, dark face, dark alert eyes, dark well-placed ears, abundance of cream puppy coat, square in the stand, exuberant in the move, movement a little loose as you’d expect on one so young. Bright as a button and full of confidence. Should do well.
Class 2. PD (2,1) 1 Tew’s Torrikees Purple Rain. Very attractive young male, already with plenty of ring presence at 10 months of age, masculine expression, wedge shaped head, dark intelligent eyes enhanced by well-defined spectacles, dark Ivy-shaped ears well placed on flat skull, muzzle in proportion, dentition excellent, elegant arch of neck set on good slope of shoulder, deep chest with good spring of rib, square in the stand, tight loin, luxuriant double curl of tail carried high on flat back, in good coat with good shading, good bone with correct angulation fore and aft, movement true from all angles, moved at exactly the right pace by handler, he filled the eye. He should have a bright future. Pleased to award him BIS BPD
Class 3. JD (2) 1 Harris’ Amikirs Lover Boy for Watchkees. Balanced and compact young boy, square in silhouette, short flat back, manly head with dark eyes and good placement of dark ears, well defined markings, moderate neck set on strong shoulders, angulation good in forequarters and rear, good bone, nothing overdone, moved well. 2 Tew’s Art Pride Bucculati Bright Always Wins (IMP RUS). Honest boy with earnest expression in dark almond shaped eye, coat full, reasonable shading, would have preferred a wider front, his feet were toeing out a little which affected his movement.
Class 4. SYD (0)
Class 5. ND (0)
Class 6. PGD
(2,1) 1 Harding’s Dakaraikees Haristotle. 5 year old, well up for size, masculine head, dark almond eye, dark ears well set, rather upright in shoulder, a little over-angulated in rear, would have preferred lower hocks, moved a little close behind, tended to drop his tail today.
Class 7. LD (3.2) 1 Marshall’s Arabesque at Devonia (IMP RUS). Well-presented attractively marked 3 year old in good coat with excellent black and grey shading showing darkest of jackets, dark wedge shaped head with good placement of dark Ivy shaped ears, intelligent alert expression in dark almond shaped eyes, well defined spectacles, had a slight gap in pigmentation on lower lip and would prefer a slightly stronger muzzle, moderate bend of neck to well laid shoulders, plenty of heart and lung room with good depth of brisket and well sprung ribs, good tuck-up, luxurious double curl of black tipped tail carried high on flat back, correct angulation front and rear, straight front with strong bone and cat feet, good muscle tone, moved well, compact and pleasing to the eye, pleased to award him RBD
Class 8. OD (7,1) A lovely class of closely matched exhibits all of whom showed well apart from one noticeable exception who just couldn’t get into his stride on the move today. 1 Linsay’s Mezanda Merry Starshower (AI) A calm and assured 6 year old, full of ring presence he appeared to be enjoying himself today, good head with flat skull and good ear placement, correct proportions of skull to muzzle, square in outline with short back and correct angulation, good bone and muscle tone, movement brisk and true, well handled. 2 Rose’s Rossvale Endevour to Esorkees. Well up for size 3 year old, a strong boy with good muscle tone he looked fit for purpose, strong head, flat skull, good eye colour and shape, well set ears, good top-line, correct angulation, low hocks, moved well. 3 Peck’s Kwajongen He’s A Dandy Byquy. Alert 3 year old of correct size and shape, good head shape, well set dark ears of correct size and shape, pleasing dark eye with intelligent expression, good definition, good stop, body compact with good spring of rib, excellent angulation front and rear, good hocks, double curled and well-furnished tail complete with black tip carried close over flat back, admirable shading on harsh coat, brisk movement but crabbed a little on the move today which dropped him down the pecking order.
Class 9. VD (3,3) Beautiful Class of veterans all of whom were experts in the show ring and none of them showing their age. 1 Ch Int Ch, NL Ch, Neradamik All About The Boy For Watchkees JW ShCM. A lovely boy in good coat, excellent head and expression, moderate curve of neck to good shoulders, flat back, good front angulation, slightly down on his rear pasterns but his movement was excellent, belying his age. A lovely chap, I had no hesitation in awarding him BVIS. 2 Miles / Cullen / Cullen / Brown / Brown’s Ch Nerdamik Family Affair With Lekkerbek. Another Class Act, with a gorgeous coat, well defined markings, beautiful expression, dark ears going a little grey at the edges which is acceptable in a veteran, fabulously furnished tail set high and carried close on flat back, moved very well. 3 Rose’s Ch Rossvale Master of Destiny For Esorkees. Lots of presence, a still good looking boy in beautifully full harsh coat, square in silhouette, noble reach of neck, looked a true statesmen of the breed, his guard hairs are bronzing at the tips, just a little overweight which showed on the move today.

Class 10 MPB (3,1) 1 Lee’s Winklestar Aurora At Valindale. Ebullient 8 month old puppy with super dark face, nice head with good markings, alert and foxy expression, darkest of eye, spectacles clearly visible, small dark ears well set on, beautiful cream puppy coat, level top-line to super tail set high on flat back, stands square, lovely neckline, good angulation front and rear, correct tail set, full of energy and delighted to be here, took a little while to settle on the move but when she did settle he was a joy to watch. Well handled. A pleasure to award her BPIS. 2 Ring / Sharp-Bale’s Neradmik Tantrums ‘N’ Tiaras. Promising youngster, just 6 months old, litter sister to 1st in MPD (what a good litter), attractive feminine head, dark eye, alert expression, good ears, nice and square in silhouette, bags of personality, preferred the coat on 1 who has a slight age advantage, definitely one to watch.
Class 11 PB (3) 1 Lee’s Winklestar Aurora At Valindale. 2 Lindsay’s Watermyth Cassiopeia By Mezanda. Presented in beautiful condition this 9 month old was compact and well balanced, good head of correct skull shape, feminine expression, well defined markings, gorgeous tail with black tip, nice angulation, straight when viewed from the front, perfect cat feet, moved well once it settled. 3 Axford’s Watermyth Calypso. Litter sister to 2 she had many of the same qualities but with a slightly coarser coat, she was slightly wide in front which showed on the move but she has time to tighten up as she matures
Class 12 JB (2,0) 1 Gregory’s Amikirs Lovealicious. Eye-catching young bitch, 13 months, correct hight, compact and square in outline, excellent coat with very well-defined shading, luxurious ruff, level top-line, well plumed black tipped tail carried in a double curl close on flat back, head of correct wedge shape with dark Ivy shaped ears well set on flat skull, dark almond shaped eye framed by well-defined spectacles, muzzle dark and in proportion, bite correct, moderate arch of neck set into well sloped shoulder, straight front with cat feet, rear angulation correct, a dog built this well should move well and she did not disappoint, should have a very bright future. Pleased to award her Best Bitch, RBIS & BOS 2 Tew’s Art Pride Bomb Explosive Beauty (IMP RUS). Feminine young 13 month bitch, nice size and type but of lighter grey coat than 1, shadings not as well defined, good head, dark eyes of correct shape, dark ears a trifle tall but well set on, lovely tail, angulation correct, moved well.
Class 13 SYB (1) 1 Marshal’s Devonia Black Pearl. Attractive girl in good coat, nicely made with feminine head, almond shaped eyes with intelligent expression, small dark ears well placed on flat skull, moderate angulation, nice straight front, small cat feet with black nails, full coat of beautiful colour and definition of shading, luxuriant tail well set over flat back, very attentive to handler, she moved well.
Class 14 NB (0)
Class 15 PGB
(2.1) 1 Axford’s Kwajongen She’s A Model For Byquy. Small but perfectly formed this girl oozed femininity, compact and square with the correct angulation, foxy head with dark expressive eyes, moderate arch of neck into good shoulders, a little out of coat and would have preferred more furnishing on the tail, the handler might try moving her on the right as she had a tendency to pull away and crab to the left which spoilt her movement today.
Class 16 LB (4,3) 1 Axford’s Lilly Marlina Of Watermyth. Very pretty girl, darkest of eye in feminine head, excellent definition of spectacles, small black ears, full luxurious coat with beautiful shading, however the coat felt a little soft and silky today, amply furnished tail carried well over back, would have preferred a wider front and forepaws are a tad ‘Ten to Two’ pointing outward, carrying a little too much weight which showed on the move.
Class 17 OB (2,1) 1 White’s Ch Neradmik Vanilla Ice Morvania. Cracking little 5 year old bitch of good type and shape, square with short back and correct angulation, very good muzzle, wedge shaped head, good stop, Ivy shaped black ears well set on flat skull, lovely dark eyes with intelligent expression, clearly defined spectacles and shading on lovely coat, good cat feet, when allowed to move briskly it moved true out and back.
Class 18 VB (1) Wheatley’s Keitakees Asleep In The Back 1 A lovely example of a veteran bitch, only the grey on her muzzle giving any indication of her age, nice head with good stop, she has a pleasing expression, she used her dark eyes and ears to good effect, one would never know she was a veteran, coat full and of good colour, confident and majestic on the move she looked to be enjoying her day in the ring.
