NORTH OF ENGLAND KEESHOND CLUB – CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 2008
Minor Puppy D (2): 1. Brunt’s Zandvoort Dream Machine. (BPD). Well constructed with lovely head and expression, small ears, distinct spectacles and correct dentition. Good reach of neck. Turned his hocks in slightly on the move but had perfect tail, carried well. 2. Hickson’s Natlou’s Young Pretender under Kichigai. Very immature puppy. Lovely happy character with nice head and expression and cobby in outline. Should grow into a promising boy.
Puppy D (2): 1. Peck’s Valindale Genusfour Byquy. Rather sombre in colour was my first impresson but has quality throughout. Well proportioned head with good stop carried on a well arched neck, nicely bodied with square outline which he held on the move. A little soft on his front pasterns and moved close at the rear. 2. Wilson’s Gallowtree Midnight Hour. Somewhat overshadowed by the winner of this class but pleasing puppy with appealing expression.
Junior D (4-1): Good class with 3 quality dogs. 1. Blomfield’s Valindale What Ever. Very upstanding dog, with correct head and expression. Good arched neck, deep brisket and spring of rib. Short coupled with level topline, Perfect tail carried well. Moved briskly but toed in slightly going away. 2. Wilkes’ Pommary Ashu Lodale for Dakaraikees. Very similar comments apply as for the first, just a little smaller overall, softer in expression and slightly longer caste. 3. Valindale What Do You Think About Lacetrom.
Yearling D (2): 1. Gate’s Valindale What Do You Think About Lacetrom. Quality dog with impressive head, nice wedge and good stop. Good conformation overall but would prefer more neck for balance. Moved out well. 2. Taylor’s Reesburg Ringleader. Lovely head and expression with well defined spectacles. Good coloured coat. Nicely presented. A little soft on front pasterns.
Novice D (2-1): 1. Brunt’s Zandvoort Dream Machine. Well constructed dog with well proportioned head. Good front and hind quarters, moved well but needs more bodyweight. Tail very disappointing.
Graduate D (3): 1. Valindale What Do You Think About Lacetrom. 2. Bell’s Allforus Top Gun. My sincere apologies to this exhibitor. My comments on this dog have somehow gone astray. 3. Reesburg Ringleader.
Post Grad. D (4-1): 1. Barton’s Rossvale Spirit of the Night at Collcrist. Very typical. Short and cobby with dark shading. Well balanced head with good wedge. Well set small ears with alert expression. Nicely short coupled body with good spring of rib. Good outline with perfect well feathered tail and tight curl. Moved with a brisk straight spring in his step 2. Newman’s Leazehond Edmundson. Bigger dog with very appealing soft expression. Well defined spectacles and good dentition. Excellent double curled tail. Movement was more of a leisurely stroll. 3. AllforusTop Gun
Limit D (6): Strong quality class headed by 1. Day’s Allforus Dice Master for Spitzcav JW.Sh.CM. (RCC). Excellent example of the breed. Lovely head and expression with well set small ears. Good shaped dark eye and fine spectacles. Nicely arched neck, good shoulder and forequarters. Deep brisket, well sprung rib. Short coupled. Well muscled hindquarters and nicely angulated hock. Good bone. Tight feet. Moved briskly and true. 2. Dean’s Allforus Frosting Over Lekkerbek JW. Very similar to 1 but smaller type, and the same comments apply. A very close decision 3. Craig’s Flatmeer Flonkerlicht.
Open D (6): 1. Sharp-Bale’s Ch. Neradmik D’Artagnan. (CC, RBIS, BOS). Mature dog of excellent quality. I found very little to fault although he appeared just a little weak on his back pasterns which just swung the balance in the final challenge for BIS. Beautifully presented and handled requiring a firm hand. Couldn’t be denied the CC. 2. Bennett & Savage’s Ch. Thorsdale Trade Mark. Beautiful head and expression, perfectly square with level topline. Well set and carried tail. Moved soundly front and back. 3. Peck’s Valindale Fixed Assets for Byquy.
Veteran D (6): An excellent class of very worthy veterans. Compliment to their owners. 1. Austin’s Chotahkees What a Dream. Compact and quality dog. Well proportioned head with good shaped eye with well defined spectacles. Used his ears well. Moved very soundly front and rear. 2. Rose’s Valindale Rum Punch for Esorkees. Similar to 1 but not moving quite as precisely. 3. Hayworth’s Veelyn Enchanter.
Vintage Veteran D (1): 1. Taylor’s Reesburg Rock-a-Fella. At 14 years of age he did well. Enjoying his day out.
Breeders D (5-1): 1. Pattison’s Eastkees One More Chance. Good quality sound dog. Excellent head, ears and eyes. Strong on his pasterns and moved very well. 2. Leazehond Edmundson 3. Hickson’s Ch. Kichigai Great Pretender. JW.Sh.CM.
Not Bred by Ex. D (3-1): 1. Allforus Frosting Over Lekkerbek. 2. Flatmeer Flonkerlicht. Attractive good quality dog well marked, very well groomed and handled.
Minor Puppy B (1): 1. Brunt’s Zandvoort What’s in a Dream. Lovely baby with pretty head and melting expression. Everything seems to be in the right place. She was handled and moved very true. Certainly one for the future.
Puppy B (3): 1. Hickson’s Kichigai Moonlight Kisses. (BPIS). Eye-catching, very well handled and presented to perfection. Appealing head and alert expression. Nicely bodied and well proportioned. Good forequarters, and hindquarters well muscled for one so young. Good tight feet. Held her outline and very sound in movement. 2. Peck’s Valindale Waltzing Matilda for Byquy. Another very promising puppy who will come into her own when she settles. Lovely type with a very well proportioned head and well balanced body. 3. Wilson’s Gallowtree Midnight Belle.
Junior B (2): 1. Jaines’ Allforus Born for Ice. Attractive bitch of good type. Lovely foxy face with good length of neck, nicely arched Square body with lovely topline and tailset. 2. Bale-Sharp’s Neradmik Endless Love. Somewhat disappointed in this. Of good type and well presented, however felt her shoulder spoilt her overall balance, notable particularly on the move.
Yearling B (3): 1. Searle’s Brykin Beulieu at Heemstede. An attractive looking bitch. Balanced with good head using her ears well. Many good points, hind quarters were not her fortune, but overall she was still good enough to win the class. 2. Read’s Ricara Kiss Me Kate at Valindale. Pleasing young lady who looked lovely going round the ring. Expressive head and eye. Used her ears well. Nicely balanced all over. Lighter in colour than 1.
Novice B (1): 1. Zandvoort What’s in a Dream.
Graduate B (4-2): 1. Newman’s Leazehond Maddy Moonlight. Lovely dark expression. Well proportioned head with good wedge shape and stop. Good coat with large ruff. Excellent forequarters but not so good in the rear. 2. Ricara Kiss Me Kate at Valindale.
Post Grad.B (5): 1. Francis & Wilding’s Swashway Stagestruck. (RCC). First impressions were that she was too light in colour but her overall type and many distinctive qualities overcame my doubts. Well proportioned head and appealing expression with good ear placement, well shaped dark eye with fine spectacles. Good reach of neck carried on well laid shoulders. Good ruff. Compact body excellent forequarters, deep brisket and well sprung rib. Well muscled straight hindquarters with good tail set. Excellent coat texture and well groomed. Movement brisk and sound. 2. Leazehond Maddy Moonlight. 3. Keepin’s Desakees Moonbeam.
Limit B (8-2): 1. Austin’s Valindale Darling Girl for Chotahkees. Very imposing, beautifully balanced bitch. Classic head with lovely reach of neck. Good level topline, compact body, well sprung rib and deep brisket. Forequarters strong with good bone. Excellent tail. Tight feet. Moving soundly & briskly holding her topline. Strong contender in the challenge. 2. Francis & Wilding’s Swashway Material Girl. Smaller type. Foxy expression, petite with lovely head and eye. Nicely balanced and moved with style. 3. Dent’s Flatmeer Fluisteraar
Open B (7-3): 1. Brown’s Ch.Rossvale Gone With the Wind (CC.BOB.BIS). Not a lot I can say about this one that hasn’t been said before because I couldn’t fault her. She is the epitomy of the breed standard as I understand it. She’ll always be, to me, what a Keeshond should be. 2. Goddard’s Ch.Swashway Drama Queen. Smart looking bitch with well defined markings. Lovely head and expression. Well constructed all over. Moved soundly. 3. Brewer’s Ch./Ir.Ch. Neradmik Rumour Has It.
Veteran B (5-1): I particularly enjoyed this class, all were good quality, headed by 1. Keeping’s Ch Desanti Iceberg. (BVIS) Super, well balanced and compact with an imposing outline. Very good head, well proportioned, carried on a nicely arched neck. Moved very soundly with verve. A strong contender in the challenge. 2. Bell’s Ch.Allforus Magic ‘n Ice. JW.Sh.CM. Another excellent bitch with very similar attributes, loved her outline and conformation, not quite so outgoing as 1 but moved and showed well. 3. Saunders’ Liefkees Adelina.
Vintage Veteran B (1): 1. Marfleet’s Colpatron Secret Dreams of Flatmeer. What a character. In a big class she would still have stood out with her outgoing personality. Lovely to go over. Certainly well constructed but really excels in her movement. She was the one ‘the judge would like to take home’.
Breeders B (4-2): 1. Saunders’ Liefkees Albertine. A real quality bitch with well proportioned head, a nice wedge and good stop, well defined spectacles, Well set ears with alert expression, all carried on a long well arched neck set into a good lay of shoulder. Excellent forequarters, short compact body with well carried tail. Her movement was true and brisk. .2. Leazehond Maddy Moonlight.
Not Bred by Ex. B (4): 1. Stubbings’ Norkees Special Edition at Vandersee. Well put together, nicely constructed. Short coupled and balanced. Moved well. 2. Colpatron Secret Dreams of Flatmeer. 3. Ricara Kiss Me Kate at Valindale.
Brace. (3-1). Saunders’ Brace – Liefkees Adeline & Liefkees Albertine. What a lovely matching pair. Absolutely in unison with each other.
Doug Kitchener – Judge
