North of England Keeshond Club Open Show 16.2.25
My thanks to the Officers and Committee for the invitation to judge this show, the club has supported me for many years in my education in the breed and I really enjoyed the afternoon. A club show is always a special honour and treat, thank you to all the exhibitors and the dogs. Heads in general were very good, coats I think are improving but some still need a bit of a ‘less is more’ approach. It was a shame to see so few youngsters, but a delight to see some wonderful veterans and I was very pleased with my overall winners.
JD (2) 1 Johnston & Atkinson, Winklestar Namid, very attractive young chap who made a very nice shape standing and kept it on the move, where he was clean and positive. Handsome head with strong muzzle and good dark eye, ears well used, very thick undercoat which will hopefully clear a bit with maturity, good bone and nice tight feet, was in my final 3 in the challenge, would expect to see him titled in due course. 2 Miles, Dean, Cullen & Cullen, Skyline’s Outlander At Lekkerbek (Imp USA) another nice youngster with a lovely foxy expression, square in outline with good amount of daylight underneath, good bone and super feet, a touch wide in front both standing and moving and not quite so settled as the winner.
PGD (1) 1 Barton, Neradmik Prince Charming Of Kyross. A very friendly chap with a kind eye of good colour and shape. A very thick coat which slightly obscured his outline but was of good texture. Good bone and feet. Moved out well.
LD (1) 1 Gate, Winklestar Alnair Via Lacetrom. A darker dog, loved his head and expression, good ears well placed and used, made a decent shape standing, coat of good texture, could be a fraction tidier in front, moved well.
OD (3,1) Nice class 1 Brunt, Ch Divnyi Drug Dar (Imp Rus) A very impressive fellow, makes a lovely shape standing foursquare with good balance. Being picky, would like perhaps a shade more definition in his spectacles, but overall head properties are good, ears very good, had him pegged as my overall winner but his hind action was a little lazy at times which cost him against the Veteran, but a very good one nonetheless, RBD. 2 Fitches, Nl Ch Samoykees Harbour Lights. Another nice dog, darker in colour with lovely head and expression, good outline, moved well, standing on neat feet, carrying a little extra weight which cost him.
VD (1) 1 Hickson, Ch Kichigai’s Only The Lonley VW. A super smart lad who despite being nearly ten, like all good spitz is still full of himself and every inch the showman. Another who made a great shape standing, that square silhouette with short top and underline, weight well distributed, very neat feet, well set out head with adoring expression for his handler, a master on the move with a brisk positive action which took him almost all the way, BD, BVIS, BOS, RBIS, just splitting hairs between him and the bitch who was my overall winner.
SpVinD (1) 1 Miles & Dean, Ch Neradmik Family Affair With Lekkerbek. A wonderful, handsome, nr 12yr old dog, good shape and size, good feet especially for his age, sweetest expression, very interested in making sure the floor was tidy as he went round, a super advert for the breeds’ longevity.
SpNBBE (2) 1 Ch Amikirs Lover Boy For Watchkees. A smart four yr old, would like a fraction more leg length to balance him, in good coat, attractive head, could be stronger in the rear, moved ok. 2 Barton, Neradmik Prince Charming Of Kyross, see previous.
MPB (1) 1 Bell, Allforus Miracle Of Love. 7mth old, the only puppy present today which was a shame, but certainly she made up for it by being an absolute delight to judge. Just the right shape for a bitch, presented in beautiful coat and condition, feminine head with super dark eye, ears well set and used, good bone & lovely feet, moved out with verve and accuracy. She stole my heart. BPIS & RBB.
JB (1) 1 Blunt, Zandvoort Moonlight. Well she made me smile! This young lady was determined to make a fool of herself, she has a good head well laid out in a correct blunt wedge, a good dark eye, could perhaps be a shade more compact but forgivable in a bitch, hope the training is successful eventually!
YB (1) 1 Marfleet, Flatmeer Fleur’s Krystal. Another cheerful young lady, a touch long and low in outline, attractive head properties, very well-muscled, frustrating on the move as she rarely broke into a true trot, however in the challenge she did, and earned herself a spot in the shortlist.
PGB (1) 1 Blunt, Zandvoort Grace’s Secret. Similar age to previous class winner, slightly better in outline, presented in good coat, pretty head, carrying a little extra weight.
LB (1) 1 Blunt, Goldgin Chanel (Imp Rus). Loved this girl, full of life, such a foxy expression, made a lovely shape standing on good feet, in beautiful coat which enhanced her shape instead of obscuring it, beautiful neck with lovely arch, plenty of fill in front, positive and clean on the move, BB & BIS. Would hope to see her with letters to her name in the not-too-distant future.
OB (3,2) 1 Marfleet, Flatmeer Fleur Dilly. Well off for size, darker 6yr old, lovely eye, kind intelligent expression, neat feet, reasonable shape and balance, carrying a big coat, good condition underneath it, moved ok once settled.
VB (1) 1 Gate, Ch Lacetrom Shuna ShCM VW. This nearly ten yr old lady was another not showing her age, moved out with plenty of enthusiasm, at times a touch proud of her front feet, nice shape and overall qualities, not surprised to see she carries plenty of letters at both ends of her name, just very reluctant to use her ears which gave her quite a worried expression.
SpVinB (2) More golden oldies! 1 Blunt, Ch Vanstrand Quantum Of Solace. Great to see some really super old ones, this 12yr old still makes an impressive shape standing, albeit her generous coat can slightly obscure it. She carries herself so proudly as well she should, lovely head and expression, gave the younger ones a run for their money, BVB. 2 Marfleet, Flatmeer Fleurette, another super 12yr old, different in style, would like a touch more leg, also carrying a big coat, moved well, super feet.
SpBBE (1) Marfleet, Flatmeer Fleurting. Nearly ten, giving her handler a bit of a challenge, lovely dark eye, good head, decent overall shape, not quite giving her best on the move.
