I was greatly looking forward to this appointment & thank you for my excellent entry, it was only a shame that the two breeds before us overran on time. Although we were eventually found an alternative ring, it meant that judging could only start just over an hour before the group was first called which put pressure on both judge & exhibitors alike as well as the dogs themselves.
Although temperaments were charming throughout, remembering that in the recent past quality was so high & type so even, it was somewhat of a surprise to find such a mixture of type & balance with many bearing little resemblance to the short compact body called for in the Standard with decent length of leg, some too had little spring of rib to the point that one bitch was underweight.
A number were betwixt & between in coat which, I gather, was the reason for the absenteeism in both Limit & Open Bitch classes, & sadly the whole latter class was absent. However, I was more than happy with the four top winners, all splendid representatives of the breed.
VD (4) 1 Luckhurst’s Ch Gavimir Kestrel, supremely confident & energetic, excellent outline & balance, good ratio of length of back to height at withers, so typy & beautifully made all through, good shoulders & hind leg, handsome masculine head, well shaped eyes & most alert intelligent expression, good firm topline & tightest of tails under which I would confidently risk a note of the realm, scored on his better length of neck & shorter back, in superb full harshly textured dark, well marked, double coat, most impressive both standing & on the move. RCC; 2 Waller’s Ch Brykin Bourree, old favourite of mine, in excellent coat, dark sparkling eyes, well defined spectacles, good layback of shoulder, moved extremely well, good proportions of leg to body; 3 Austin’s Chotahkees What A Dream.
PD (4) 1 Luckhurst’s Gavimir Checkmate, it was rather a case of six of one to half a dozen of the other with these two. This one was a real baby with charming fluffy ruff, liked his basic size & type, scored on spring of rib, darker eyes, smaller ears, layback of shoulder & tight tail. Although a trifle unco-ordinated in movement to start with the more he went, the sounder he proved to be with good angulation of shoulders & well made hindquarters. Just needs to settle in topline; 2 Wilkin’s Pommary Quick Silver, impressive mature well schooled showman of excellent proportions & balance, decent shoulder. Just hope he has finished growing at not yet 7 months. Impressive well schooled showman, most intelligent expression, in hard muscular condition, very good mover.
JD (1) 1 Elliott’s Neradmik Boss at Fletilla, well balanced, good layback of shoulder & spring of rib, in excellent coat for age, so sound & positive on the move, that is once he had finally stopped bouncing & pulling over on lead & made up his mind to concentrate on the job in hand. Good head & dark expressive eye, well defined spectacles & excellent marking, good topline & high set tail, so typy & well made all through, good bone. Just needs to learn to make the best of his undoubted qualities with steadier showmanship as otherwise he has everything going for him.
LD (7) 1 Peck’s Valindale Genusfour Byquy, just out of junior &, my notes say, gorgeous, brim full of confidence & enthusiasm, full of himself & his own importance, showed his heart out from the moment he entered the ring, so masculine & sturdy, good bone & feet, in dark well marked & textured coat, well proportioned with proudly held arched neck & decent length of leg to short firm compact body, scoring on dark eye & earset, so very sound & positive on the move with good length of stride, outstanding for make, shape, size & type. CC which, I gather, is his first, & BOB. Just made it in time to represent the breed with great style in the group ring; 2 Wilkes’ Pommary Ashu Lodale for Dakaraikees, handsome & so well balanced, of similarly good proportions, splendid double twist, very good mover in full double, harsh textured coat, in rock hard muscular condition; 3 Rose’s Rossvale Sacred Spirit to Esorkees.
OD (4) 1 Sharp-Bale’s Ch Neradmik D’Artagnan, pleasure to handle as he is basically so well made all through, in the hardest of muscular condition, good layback of shoulder & decent hind angulation, beautiful head, eye & expression with typical spectacles, excellent harsh textured full coat, well marked, good bone & tailset, moved very soundly particularly in front & in profile, driving strongly from his hocks & doing everything asked of him but with a mite less enthusiasm than in his youth; 2 Blomfield’s Valindale What Ever, so very masculine, of excellent proportions, ultra friendly & full of bounce, extremely fit, in hard condition, excellent coat texture, lovely head & expression, darkest of eyes, well laid shoulders, particularly impressive in profile on the move; 3 Bennett & Savage’s Ch Thorsdale Trademark.
VB (1) 1 Truelove’s Desanti Chinese Whispers over Neradmik, ultra feminine, well balanced & typy, thoroughly honest & in the peak of condition at nearly 9 years, good layback of shoulder & decent hind angulation, most charmingly intelligent expression & never takes her eyes off her obviously adored owner, lovely small, well set ears, good spectacles, tightly curled tail with double twist, very stylish, holding herself so proudly on the move, good reach in profile, well marked, in excellent coat & hard condition, good topline. RCC.
PB (3) 1 Gregory’s Amikirs Adorabubble, very mature & well marked of wonderful pure grey colour with no suggestion of tawniness here, beautiful head, dark expressive eyes, well laid shoulder & decent hind leg, immaculately behaved & beautifully presented showgirl, super sound & positive on the move. BP; 2 Matthews & Leadbetter’s Pommary Sophies Choice at Valindale, full of fun, illustrating the typical friendliness of the breed with great enthusiasm. Up to size at under 7 months but with excellent shoulders together with charming head & expression. Well balanced & basically a good mover but all over the place with excitement. Colour not her fortune; 3 Luckhurst’s Gavimir Chantilly Lace.
JB (2) 1 Sharp-Bale’s Neradmik Chanel, of lovely proportions, beautiful feminine head, bright alert expression in her dark eyes, well set ears & tail. Not in the fullest of coat currently but so very sound & positive on the move. Well schooled showgirl, scoring on shoulder here; 2 Elliott’s Natlou Lady Penelope at Fletilla, beautiful head, dark eye & pigment, in splendid coat. Just a touch longer & lower than 1 but with the better bone. Could be steadier in movement to make the best of herself.
PGB (6) 1 Stubbings’ Vandersee Autumnal Mist, neat feminine lady, beautiful head & expression, small well set ears, good layback of shoulder, excellent body, bone & tailset, pleasure to handle as she is so well made all through, beautifully presented in immaculately clean full coat, very good mover; 2 Wilkin’s Whizzkees Silver Slipper, well proportioned although not in the best of jackets. In the hardest of muscular condition, moved with great enthusiasm, charming head & expression, dark eyes, excellent shoulders & hind leg. Could do with a better spring of rib; 3 Pattison’s Eastkees Winter Mist.
LB (7,4) 1 Truelove’s Neradmik Baiodora Lady D’Winter, nothing exaggerated about this beautiful lady, chock full of type & so well balanced, lovely head, well shaped dark eye, excellent full coat, good firm body, the excellence of her conformation being reflected in her very sound positive movement with good length of stride in profile. Obviously practically minded, she flattens her ears when moving, presumably to keep the wind out, & there is nothing wrong with that since the moment she comes to a halt & uses her ears it is as if the sun has come out so beautiful is her expression. CC which, I gather, like the BOB also her first; 2 Newman’s Leazehond Maddy Moonlight, charming head, dark expressive eyes. Just a touch shorter in neck than 1. Very steady & accurate on the move; 3 Stubbings’ Norkees Special Edition at Vandersee.
