Judge: Mrs Jean Sharp Bale
I was delighted to take on this appointment and hope Ken is now feeling better. It is a long time since I have judged Keeshonds so I was really looking forward to my day. I was disappointed with some of the dogs not reaching my expected standards especially the younger stock however some of the seasoned campaigners excelled! Sportsmanship was generally good with just the odd exception, which I always think is such a shame. I would like to thank everyone for most people accepting my decisions in good spirit.
Veteran Dog: Entries 1 Absentees 0 1st – Miles’s, Dr Kristen’s, and Cullenss’ Ch Rossvale Legacy for Lekkerbek 9 1/2 year old dog and one to be proud of and have always liked. Lovely head and expression, good, hard condition and super body. High set tail. Quality coat of good colour and moved with style
Minor Puppy Dog: Entries 2 Absentees 0 1st – Pattison’s Quest Eastkees Del Monte Dragnone 9 month old puppy. Head of correct proportions. A lovely neck and well placed shoulder but wider in front than I would prefer. Good strong body with good depth of chest. Tail held well. Markings lacked definition. Moved ok. 2nd – Lindsays’ Mezanda Mystic Starman 9 month old puppy not as much neck as 1 which effected overall shape. Narrower throughout which effected him on the move front and rear. Colour was good.
Puppy Dog: Entries 1 Absentees 1
Junior Dog: Entries 1 Absentees 0 1st – Mr D Peck’s Keitakees to Love Somebody at Byquy A dog I have always admired from first sight so like his Dad. Beautiful shape, lovely head, correct shaped eye with lovely expression. Small well placed ears. Lovely neck and shoulder and a short, compact body with good depth of chest. Short coupled with a high set tail. Standing on good legs and feet. A little out of coat which spoiled overall depth of colour. At present on the smaller side and lighter in bone than I would prefer for a male however I anticipate maturity will improve this. All of a tis on the move so difficult to assess.
Yearling Dog: Entries 0
Post Graduate Dog: Entries 0
Limit Dog: Entries 4 Absentees 0 1st – Pattison’s Serenaubach Full of Wonder Good overall shape, acceptable tail set. Appears that his coat maybe going over as his colour not clear. Presentation could have been better. Pleasing head but different type to my usual preference. Good solid body on well boned legs and feet. Won Res CC on his quality of body and soundness when moved. 2nd – Mrs & Mrs Marshall’s and Sean’s Arabesque at Devonia (Imp Rus) A dog I have watched and admired from the side of the ring but today disappointed me when I went over him. Head proportions ok but expression did not please me. Lacking in neck but a good shoulder angulation and extremely good body shape. Beautiful colour and tail adequately set. Moved ok. 3rd – Mrs C and Mrs R Wilkins’s Whizzkees Quicksilver
Open Dog: Entries 5 Absentees 2 1st – Harris’s Ch Kichigai Boy is Back in Town for Watchkees (JW) Very much like his father but a bigger version. A dog that pleased me more than expected. Loved his head, good expression and a lovely eye. Good neck and shoulders. Beautiful strong, mature body with good depth of chest and nicely coupled. Super front and correct angulation in the rear. Would have preferred a slightly higher tail set. Very good movement. Absolute please to go over and very well handled. 2nd – Miss N & Mr C Hickson’s Ch Kichigai’s Only the Lonely Smaller dog but still very well put together. Beautiful shape, good neck and shoulder. Pleasing head but unfortunately tear stains marred his expression. Good on the move. 3rd – Mr A & Mrs J Fitchers Ch Samoykees Harbour Lights A dog I have admired from ringside and when he is in his own type of company deserves to win well. More Wolfspitz in my opinion than Keeshond. Longer in body and not in proportion with neck. Tail set ok. Heavier in head with a lighter eye. Good bite. Strong legs and feet. Bigger in type and lovely colour. Moved well.
Special Beginners Dog: Entries 0 1st – Warren’s Kessaku Scooby Doo 5 year old boy with a pleasant head but larger and lighter in the eye. Slightly larger ears but good body and moved well.

Veteran Bitch: Entries 2 Absentees 0 1st – Mr and Mrs Hill’s Whizzkees Ebony Silver for Plymkees JW Sh. Ch 8 year old bitch with the energy of an 8 month old puppy! Larger bitch but of my preferred type. Lovely overall shape with good neck and shoulder. Clear silver colour with good markings. Pleasing head. Good on the move could be better if she stopped barking! 2nd – Mr A & Mrs J Fitchers Ch Samoykees Exclusive Moon (AI) Darker than 1 in colour and markings of different type but still good quality. Moved well but a little overweight.
Minor Puppy Bitch: Entries 0
Puppy Bitch: Entries 3 Absentees 2 1st – Miss T Church’s Tykees we go Solo 10 month old bitch. Overall I felt this bitch this doesn’t have a typical Keeshond shape. Balance of neck and back was not proportionate. Tail set could have been higher. Lovely colour.
Junior Bitch: Entries 2 Absentees 1 1st – Redler & Wheatley’s Keitakees You are my World A lovely, pretty bitch. Good head, eye and expression. Short and compact body with a good tail held well over back. I would prefer a little more neck to complete the overall look of this Champion in the making. Coming back into coat at the moment but when it returns will have good colour. Moved well.
Yearling Bitch: Entries 1 Absentees 0 1st – Lindsay’s Watermyth Cassiopeia by Mezanda This bitch was a prime example of never to pre-judge from ringside. I liked her far more than I thought I would. Good head but rather plain in expression. Lovely neck and shoulder. Good body and depth of chest which made her pleasing to go over. High set tail held well. Nicely muscled and movement very good.
Post Graduate Bitch: Entries 5 Absentees 2 1st – Mr A Hill & Mrs C Wilkin’s Whizzkees Silver Spirit Larger girl with lovely colour. Heavier in head but better balanced than 2. Good body and tail carried well over back. Good mover. 2nd – Miss T Church’s Leazehond Amber Steppes For Tykees This girl had pleasing head with a good body. Good shoulder placement and moved very soundly. Longer than I would like. 3rd – Mrs C & Mr R Wilkin’s Whizzkees Silver Spark
Limit Bitch: Entries 4 Absentees 1 1st – Miss C Bardsley’s Skathki Emerald City Only seen this girl twice. Once as a puppy and the other time earlier this year. The improvement from the first time is incredible. She meets the standard in every way. My type of girl and could have easily taken her home. Overall her picture was so lovely I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Beautiful head and expression with lovely eyes. Good neck and shoulder. Short back and completely balanced. Super tail set and plume held well over back completing the overall silhouette. I felt the tail was happier curling the way it wanted to go! Moved extremely well. Presentation and handling is second to none. 2nd – Mrs & Mr Marshall’s Devonia Black Pearl Another nice girl with an acceptable head and expression. Good neck and shoulder. A little overweight. Scored over 3 with tail set and shortness of body. Moved ok. 3rd – Gregory’s Amikirs Doubly Delicious (AI) JW
Open Bitch: Entries 4 Absentees 0 1st – Lady K & Mr C Hickson’s Kichigai’s Uptown Girl JW Very pretty, smaller bitch but of good type. Rather large coat of good colour but made her look a little short on the leg. Lovely head with feminine expression. Good proportions and overall a very balanced bitch. Moved well along with all the other class participants. 2nd – Gregory’s Amikirs Lovealicious JW Many things to like about this girl. Superb head and expression. Exceptional colour. High set tail but longer in back than 1. Very good on the move. 3rd – Mrs S Lindsay’s Ch Cosmic Dream’s Damn You Look Good for Mezanda
