09 Breed Notes – February 2022

Apologies for not mentioning the Club’s annual trophies in my notes for last week. Cup steward Gill Brunt had managed to get the majority returned over the past 18 months (which was no mean feat) ready for handing out. In previous years, the announcement of the winners (& handing out) is at the AGM, but as our AGM is now being held virtually (26th March – a note for your diaries!)) it was decided to do them as soon as the show opened and well before judging started; with Chairman Colin Barton making the presentations.

A Breed Appreciation Day was held last Saturday, hosted by the Keeshond Club at Roade Village Hall; with Colin Barton doing the breed talk. All five candidates who took the exam were successful and the committee would like to thank all those people and dogs who came to help.

Don’t forget that the next Keesie walk is being held up in the North East this Sunday – 6th March at Herrington Country Park DH4 7EL; with everyone meeting in the main car park at 11.30. Further details can be found on the Club’s FB page or you can contact Allison Stephenson directly.

A reminder that entries close on 6th March (online with Fossedata) for BUBA’s Open Show, on Saturday 19th March at the KC Building, Stoneleigh; the Keesie Judge is Jan Mason.

For Crufts, our judge Stuart Mallard has drawn an entry of 49 Keesies (19 dogs & 30 bitches) and we are second in the ring after 49 Schnauzers (who have been given a late start of 10.30am) in Hall 1, Ring 1 on Saturday 12th March.
