At the Winners’ Show in Amsterdam the other weekend, the Keeshond judge was Eva Nielsen (Sweden) and she had drawn an entry of 12 dogs. Winner of the CAC, CACIB and BOB was Int Ch Dungens Nice Guy owned by Eva Andersson & Marina Eriksson. The Reserve CAC and CACIB went to It Lu Ch…
At LKA, Keesies had the well-known Swedish judge Hans Almgren awarding CC’s in the breed for the second time (his first appointment in the UK was the NoEKC’s Championship show in 2010) and he had drawn an entry of 51 dogs – one of the largest entries this year apart from Crufts and the club…
Keesies were first in the ring for a 9.30am start at BUBA and it was a cold and foggy early morning start for exhibitors as they made their way to the Staffordshire Showground. The fine mist, which turned into persistent light rain, made it a miserable day; but it was warm and cheery inside with…
Sunday 19th saw the ice being scraped off windscreens for an early start for the North of England Keeshond Club’s Ch show. It was clear blue skies and sunshine, albeit with a seasonal nip in the air, for the rest of the day; but as usual, a warm welcome (& hot bacon butties) greeted exhibitors…
The following article appeared in the Telegraph recently about dogs being colour blind. Experts have known for some time that dogs have poor vision, and are up to eight times worse than humans at seeing things in detail. In the wild, dogs are a crepuscular species, meaning they are most active in dawn or dusk,…
Our judge at Midland Counties was Carole Jackson (Carnor) judging for the 2nd time – her first appointment was at BUBA in 2015. It was another leisurely start as Keesies were second in the ring after Shih Tzu and judging started promptly at 12.15pm – our given ‘not before time’. Carole had drawn an entry…
This weekend must have been a very lazy, stay at home one for you all, as I haven’t had any news (or views) from anyone. So consequently, these notes are going to be very short and sweet!! Thorpe Willoughby ‘management’ have informed the Club that Saturday 17th February 2018 is no longer available due to…
The Keeshond Club held their October open show on what (unfortunately) was probably the last gloriously warm autumnal weekend of the year. The judge was Michelle Wright (Lacetrom) and she had drawn an entry of 65 keesies; maybe it was the lovely weather that was to blame for the 20 absentees. There were no entries…
Our judge at South Wales KC was David Robbins; who was awarding CC’s for the second time (his first appointment was at Southern Counties in 2014) Keeshonds were first in the ring and there were just 16 dogs present from an entry of 18 with no entries in neither Veteran bitch nor surprisingly, either of…
There are no CC’s on offer for Keeshonds at Driffield where breed judge Roy Johnston had drawn an entry of 17 dogs with 4 absentees. Keesies were 2nd in the ring after Miniature Schnauzers and with both entries in Junior Dog and Post Graduate bitch absent and none entered in Good Citizen Dog, judging was…
There are no CC’s on offer for Keeshonds at Belfast and Judge Peter Jolley had drawn an entry of just 2 keesies. Best Dog with BOB was Melanie Harris’ Ch Neradmik All About The Boy for Watchkees JW ShCM (Ch Am Ch Kemonts Skylines Game Boy (imp USA) x Ch Lady Godiva’s Guilty Pleasures with…
At Darlington the Keeshond judge was Jill Peak (who last awarded CC’s at Richmond in 2015 when she was a replacement judge for Freda Marshall) Keesies were second in the ring after Jap Spitz with an entry of 38 dogs and judging started around 11.30am. Apart from Veteran Bitch which had no entries, all the…
At Richmond, Keeshonds were second in the ring after Italian Spinone for Swedish judge Dan Ericsson (awarding CC’s in the UK for the first time for keesies) and he had drawn an entry of 43 dogs. With no entries in veteran bitch, all three puppy bitch entries absent and a whopping 18 absentees in total;…
Our judge for Birmingham City was Gina Peterson (Foxifayre) awarding CC’s for the second time (her first appointment was at BUBA in 2011) Keesies were first in the ring for a 9.00am start and Gina had drawn an entry of 30 dogs. The City schedules a generous classification with a total of 16 classes for…
There are no CC’s on offer for Keeshonds at the SKC in August, so it really is an expensive glorified open show. This year we had an extra class scheduled, so there were two mixed sex classes – Puppy and Post Graduate & two Open classes. With the non CC breeds paying £12 per dog…
Our judge for the Welsh Kennel Club was breed specialist Dawn Gregory (Amikirs) who was awarding CC’s for the second time (her first appointment was at BUBA in 2010). Keesies were second in the ring after Chow Chows; and after a bit of a delay whilst everything was moved into the outside ring, judging started…
With no tickets on offer at Bournemouth, Keesies were third in the ring after Shar Pei & Boston Terriers; so it was a leisurely start for a Monday morning missing the traffic. Although it was humid, the threatened rain held off and it was very pleasant outside with the breeze; but hot and sticky inside…
Keeshonds haven’t had CC’s at Paignton for years; although that is all set to change in 2019 when the society becomes a ‘representative show’ scheduling CC’s for all breeds. But for the present time, it remains an expensive open show for all the local exhibitors. Our judge was Jane Paradise and she had drawn an…
